Military service teaches a commitment to something greater than oneself, and that spirit of service doesn't end when veterans leave the uniform behind.
With Honor Action's SVP of Government Affairs, Scott Cooper, joined @LindyKyzer for a conversation on why the @BipartisanVets works so well and how their shared background in service makes Capitol Hill work better.

8% of people in Britain say their elected leaders show less courage than they did ten years ago.
That is nearly half the country. It is not one party or one side, but a verdict on politics as a whole.
The good news is that courage is not something you are born with. It is a decision that can be made again.
📊 @focaldataHQ for With Honor
A spark of service. A common goal. The courage to speak up.
@ryebarcott interviewed @IanRoomeMP on what courage looks like - from the moment you sign on the dotted line, to standing up in Parliament when it matters.
"Sometimes you have to be brave to actually say things if you know they're going to change people's lives for the better. And I think that is an act of courage."
That is why we exist.
Courage and civility aren’t opposites. They work best together. 🤝
Thank you to @IRIglobal and @NDI for hosting us for a candid conversation about standing firm in your convictions while still treating people across the aisle with respect. For decades, both organizations have worked side by side to strengthen democratic institutions, support free elections, and empower citizens around the world.
Their work abroad is a powerful reminder that democracy depends on leaders willing to put country over party, and that starts with how we lead here at home.

One teacher saw a spark of leadership in a 14 year old troublemaker.
Head boy. Sword of Honour. Military Cross. Commanding officer of the Scots Guards. Now a member of the UK Parliament.
@ryebarcott and @LincolnJopp on the teachers who set us on the path to service.
Young Britons are ready to serve. The enthusiasm is cross-party.
Six in ten 18–24-year-olds say they'd sign up for a paid year of service with charities, schools, the emergency services or the armed forces.
53% see it as an opportunity, not an obligation.
A national year of service shouldn't belong to one party. Veterans sit on every bench in Parliament. They could lead the way.
New @focaldataHQ polling, commissioned by With Honor, in @thetimes today 🇬🇧

Service means putting something back into an issue or a subject that is bigger than yourself.
That was one of the messages at the @RiverCafeLondon last night, from a room of Americans and Brits across party lines who want to rebuild unity around the common good. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
@ryebarcott @elliotackerman @BenObeseJecty @AlistairCarns
Six in ten Britons say political leadership has become weaker over the past decade.
That is not a verdict on one party or one government. It is a sense that people at the top have stopped taking hard decisions when those decisions cost them something.
Courage Can Save Us argues that courage is a choice, and that it does not have to start at the top.
New polling from @focaldataHQ 🇬🇧🇺🇸
The Tower of London has seen nearly a thousand years of history. Last night it hosted the UK launch of @RyeBarcott's Courage Can Save Us, with two veterans now serving in Parliament on opposite benches: Conservative Shadow Foreign Secretary @TomTugendhat and Labour's former Armed Forces Minister @AlistairCarns. They were joined by Admiral Sir Tony Radakin and former @ft editor @LionelBarber.
Officer cadets from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst came with their Commandant, Major-General Nick Crowley, and @CityYearUK service members came with their UK leadership. They are the readers Rye wrote this book for; young people choosing to serve, in uniform and out.
Allies across the pond and across party lines 🇺🇸🇬🇧
77% of Britons say their country is divided.
Sound familiar? New @focaldataHQ polling by With Honor shows Britain and America share the same challenge.
The answer on both sides of the Atlantic is the same: we need people with the courage to put country over party.
"If you can't work across party lines, you are under delivering for your constituents."
Two veterans, one greasy spoon in London Regency Cafe. @ryebarcott and @JamesCleverly on service, cross-party friendships and the best advice James ever got.
Sixteen years ago, Nidal Hasan murdered 13 people and wounded dozens more at Fort Hood. He was tried, convicted, and sentenced by a military court.
Choosing a firing squad and livestreaming the execution trades the dignity of the law for the theater of retribution.
Broadcasting a death does not deter terrorists; it hands them the spectacle they seek.
Our military's strength rests on discipline, the rule of law, and the values that distinguish us from those who attack us. We can hold Hasan fully accountable without abandoning those principles.

Some attacks on a nation arrive without a shot fired. @TomTugendhat, a soldier turned Member of Parliament, knows this well.
At @ConcordiaSummit 2026, Tom named Russia, China, and Iran as working to divide democracies from within, and he offered a fix: connection, with the public and private sectors pulling in the same direction.
Next week, Tom joins @ryebarcott for the UK launch of Courage Can Save US. 🇺🇸🇬🇧
Last night at @FordsTheatreNPS, @ryebarcott moderated "Called to Serve," a conversation with @RepDonBacon, William Braniff of @AmericanU, and @wilson_phyllis of @womensmemorial about the courage 9/11 demanded and the courage the country needs today.
The evening was presented alongside Ford's production of Come From Away, the story of a small Canadian town that took in thousands of stranded passengers when U.S. airspace closed. Twenty-five years later, that story is a reminder of what neighbors and allies do for one another. As Rep. Bacon put it, the United States should not take its friends and allies for granted.
The panel drew on stories from Courage Can Save US and on their own experiences in uniform and public service, including the courage to take hard votes, to address the hardest issues facing our country, and the courage to watch your loved ones go to war.
With Honor Action urges House leadership to reauthorize the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party in the 120th Congress.
Since the Committee’s creation, With Honor has worked alongside its members, including veterans from the bipartisan @BipartisanVets, to advance priorities strengthening America’s national security.
As competition with China grows more consequential, Congress needs more examples of sustained bipartisan cooperation on the challenges that matter most.

With Honor Co-Founder & CEO @ryebarcott joined @scsp_ai President & CEO @Ylli_Bajraktari for a conversation on principled veteran leadership, bipartisanship, and how Congress can tackle some of the country’s most consequential challenges.
It’s a conversation rooted in years of work. With Honor Action and members of the For Country Caucus helped advance recommendations from the National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence, supporting efforts to strengthen America’s national security, modernize our defense capabilities, and ensure the United States remains competitive in emerging technologies.
From the Commission’s many recommendations, With Honor Action turned key proposals into law, including the creation of the Defense Department’s Cyber and Digital Service Academy, new emerging technology training for senior defense officials, and the establishment of the National Science Foundation’s Office of Research Security and Policy.

At the With Honor UNGA Reception, @RepGolden, Former @BipartisanVets Co-Chair and Marine Corps veteran, explained why he broke with his own party to move the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 forward.
For him, every vote is a test of his Three Cs: conscience, constituents, and country. When they don't line up, he puts principles before politics.
Working across the aisle with @RepBrianFitz, he has kept pressure on Russia even when the odds were against them. That's why Ukraine, and @ZelenskyyUa personally, awarded him the Order of Merit (Third Class) last week. For principled leadership when it matters most. 🇺🇸🇺🇦
"Dictators will always test democracies."
At the With Honor UNGA Reception, @repbrianfitz, Co-Chair, House Ukraine Caucus, warned against losing our resolve and explained why this fight is about staying power.
He championed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 and worked across the aisle with @repgolden to get it over the line. Few votes, he says, are directly linked to saving lives, and in some cases, a nation.
For more than a decade of service to Ukraine, he has received the Order of Merit (First Class) from Ukraine and President Zelenskyy.
This is what service to something bigger looks like. 🇺🇸🇺🇦
What do leaders who've served in uniform bring to the hardest questions in defense?
At the @LondonDefConf's Washington Forum, With Honor's SVP of Government Affairs Scott Cooper joined @BipartisanVets member @RepPatHarrigan and @AlistairCarns to discuss veteran leadership in defense and innovation. Their answer: the ability to adapt quickly, build trust with allies, and put mission ahead of party. Winning future wars will depend on the alliances and trust we build today.
With Honor was proud to sponsor this year's Forum, which was conducted in partnership with the @CSPC_DC.
