For a supposedly “fake sport”, wrestling is often the realest thing you can find on TV.

He had to pull out of the Hangman match at the first Double or Nothing show, and the public story was that he didn't want to lose while holding Dragongate's top title. The problem is that the reporting (Meltzer, IIRC) was that he was going to beat Hangman to set up Omega vs PAC as the World Title match at All Out in Chicago.
But the timeline never made sense. PAC would've beaten Hangman in May, lost the Dream Gate to Ben-K in late July (which was clear and obvious to anyone watching DG at the time), then did the Omega match that he was reportedly losing in August.
I always figured it was some type of visa deal, and the conspiratorial part of me believed it was WWE behind it, but now we have Bix putting the story out in full.
What a rotten company, fucking with that man's life and livelihood so thoroughly.

The Rock gives his condolences to the family of PAC
“As global as professional wrestling is, as global as WWE is, as much as AEW is growing into this phenomenal wrestling company, and wherever you’re wrestling at around the world… we’re still a very tight knit unit and a tight knit group because we all share the same DNA.
But when we lose one of our own, it hurts. And when they’re young and so insanely talented, it really f*cking hurts.”
