Echoing others: Editor and writer friends recently laid off, hit me up for contacts if you decide to go freelance. So sorry this is coming at such a hard time!
Work with @alishasays She is lovely ❤️
Haven't done one of these in a while: I'm looking for people who have bought a tiny home and are interested in sharing their story on @TravelLeisure! DM or email me if this is you: [email protected]. Thanks!

Last week when I covered hurricane Helene's aftermath for Afar, I didn't think I'd be writing this story for @fodorstravel as Hurricane Milton aims for a direct hit on Tampa, where I live. fodors.com/world/north-ameri…
My friend @CarrieMcLaren wrote this awesome piece about her family. Give it a read!

Hey all - I’m a freelance journalist in Asheville and I’m available for work. Best way to reach me is Jessica dot Wakeman at gmail. HOWEVER, Internet service is quite bad here at the moment.

There are no words for how much I appreciate Drew Baker sharing his story. He and his family are amazing humans and I'm so grateful I got to spend time with them. Big thanks to @chasingthevine for trusting me with this one. azureroad.io/in-sickness-and…

We’ve got to go back to buying physical magazines.
I’ve read two, cover to cover, this month. and the way I have an abundance of show recs, a new vacation spot and a new designer to follow? Without the saturation of tiktok popularity? Yeah.
Best welcome gift in recent memory: @ProvidenceRI They waited until the last day to give it so they could get to know each writer. I received a handbag made by a local indigenous artist I admired on the trip.
This was so much fun! Check out the “Welcome to Florida” podcast to hear about the wonderful things in this state like the time-honored tradition of scalloping :)
For our latest "Welcome to #Florida" podcast episode, @ChaddScott and I talked to @WriteOnHonaker about scalloping in the gulf's waters -- and then eating your catch. Dive in! buzzsprout.com/1169570/15602…

I am sharing a personal statement that my family and I have made in response to my brother’s announcement.
I don't post my work on here often, but this trip with my daughter, our first-ever solo, was so special and I really appreciate fabulous editor @loratliff commissioning and editing this article so thoughtfully! travelandleisure.com/natural… via @TravelLeisure
This really lifted me this morning. Thanks for sharing!
Wrote something extremely raw and personal in today's @TTWnewsletter. You know where to find it if you want to read, but here's a little extract I hope will help someone today. Nothing really matters, and that's great. Trust me
This hits hard. Such a great publication :(
Well, it's official: @hakaimagazine is ceasing publication at the end of the year because our funding is being cut. I'm incredibly sad for my colleagues, for the freelance community, for the journalism ecosystem as a whole, and for myself. Editing for Hakai has been a dream.
