Ryan Day on officiating for Jeremiah Smith: “When you’re talking about Jeremiah in particular, he’s so big and strong, and I mention this to the guys all the time when we’re going into these games: a tug, a pull or a bump on Jeremiah based on almost anybody else in the country would look a lot different. A foul is a foul. A foul is a foul. … We got to recognize those types of things.”

Ryan Day said Ohio State sent Big Ten officials more than 10 plays against Indiana to review.
“I don’t want to break any confidentiality of what goes on, but yeah, I think it’s fair to see we all saw — you can see the still pictures, you can see what was. Those are game-changing plays. I know they’re working hard to make sure it’s right and to get it right, but there was a handful of plays in that game that certainly were big plays.”

Ryan Day on Jeremiah Smith: “Although he only had four catches, there were two of them that we didn’t get calls on that we really had opportunities to do something with. There were targets there and opportunities there.”

Ryan Day on Luke Fahey vs. Tavien St. Clair: “Ultimately, I make the final decision, but you take the input from the coaches, take the input from our personnel department and then the players as well. They’re the ones in the huddle with these guys. That’s what it comes down to.”

Ryan Day on Luke Fahey and Tavien St. Clair: “Going into the last few games, Luke’s been ahead of Tavien in terms of what we’ve seen, but now that we have a bye week, these guys are both gonna get a lot of reps, and we’re gonna start to put together a plan on how we’re gonna move forward. We’re gonna play the guy that gives us the best chance to win.”
He added: “We'll get both of these guys some reps and get an idea of kind of how these next couple of days go. But based on what we've seen in practice the last month, Luke was ahead of Tavien going into the game, that's why he went in first, but now we have to kind of come up for air and put together a plan. We need both guys to practice really well and prepare and understand that we're gonna need them to win a championship.”

Ryan Day on Julian Sayin: “We're not gonna put any timeline on his recovery, but he is out indefinitely.”
Day said Ohio State is putting together a plan for Sayin if he can't return for the regular season and postseason.

Ryan Day: "I don't love bye weeks because being idle for a week is not ideal. That being said, I do think everything going on with Julian being down and getting our guys healthy, I think it does come at a good time, so I think there's definitely a benefit for this week for us."

Ryan Day on Luke Fahey:
"He comes in every day prepared. I think he has the respect of the team, and now he's going to be thrust into a bigger role."

Years of my life are gone after that game. I cannot believe what we witnessed in Bloomington.
