Let’s do some summer reading. Recently I sat down on the GameDay One Podcast and spoke with Michael Eck, author of “Strike Season” which is available now on Amazon. Eck is the father of three former standout @RyeAthletics athletes. The book, though, details his own senior season as a high school QB in Pennsylvania in 1979 when the football coaches left the sidelines to join a teachers union strike. And the players coached themselves. It’s an unbelievable story. Eck and I went through the book, his time as a parent in Rye and discussed his foundation: STEER for Student Athletes, which he helped create. All proceeds from the book benefit @STEER4Students. youtu.be/igszxuJKjaQ?feature…

There’s no school in @SecOneAthletics more dominant than @RyeAthletics now. Since start of 2025-26 Garnets have now procured @NYSPHSAA titles in girls’ soccer, football, ice hockey with boys’ hoops still alive in NYS Final 4. Not sure if we’ve seen this kind of dominance #HatsOff

Final: Rye 51, Smithtown West 47 in NYSPHSAA Class AA Boys Regional Final. Rye was down 9 late in the 3Q. Yet they find a way in the 4th to secure a trip to the state final four. Carson Miller was incredible on both ends in a total team effort. Section 1 is 2 for 2

What else is new. Carson Miller with an absolute bomb 68 yard touchdown to Henry Shoemaker. The 2 of them continue their amazing season and inch closer to a state title. Rye extends their lead 28-7 with 10:12 left to play in the 4Q.

“We have a basketball scrimmage tomorrow. We will be there.” - Henry Shoemaker, moments after scoring 3 touchdowns in Rye’s state football championship win. If you’re a champion for multi-sport athletes, Shoemaker and Carson Miller should be your poster children.

They share a connection across three sports that began in second grade. And it's quite possible they will both wind up earning All-Section or All-State honors in football, basketball and lacrosse. lohud.com/story/sports/high-…

Both signal callers needed one game to show what they were capable of and proved to be among the best in the section, but only one will be moving on.
