It’s hard to respect people with avoidant tendencies. So much cowardice in their characters, the way they move.

after becoming a mother, I cannot handle hearing about any type of crime against a child. it makes me physically feel ill. I always felt sad hearing about people hurting kids but now it triggers an intense emotional reaction like i’ve never experienced before. this has honestly been the hardest part of becoming a mom.

As a parent you shouldn't be telling your kids that you sacrificed your life for them, It’s mean, manipulative and not true. You chose to have your kids and nobody forced you to have them. It’s your responsibility to take care of them

A new baby usually deprives each of it’s parents around 350-400 hours of sleep in the first year.

It’s sad that during your formative years, your exposure to the world is largely limited by your parent’s own exposure. If they value things like music lessons, spelling bees, sports, or exploring random hobbies, you benefit from that. If not, it’s just chores and TV for you.

Honestly pregnancy and childbirth is such a vulnerable and fragile moment for any woman.
If you treat me badly in any or both of those moments i will never forgive or forget

Every time my daughter asks me to play or read a book I imagine myself at 85 years old, begging God to go back and be asked one last time

remember: their childhood is also your motherhood.
these are precious times for both of you. you’re allowed to build a beautiful life for yourself and for your little one. 🤍

sometimes after the baby is bathed and pj'd and fed and is snuggled up with her parents reading a bedtime story, i think it's a shame that she's living one of the peak human experiences and doesn't even know it. but then i realize that actually i'm the one living it. and i do get to know it

I sometimes try to remember what I did with all my free time before kids and I genuinely cannot. It feels like that person existed in a different lifetime.
Your brain physically reorganizes during pregnancy. The areas that are most heavily remodeled are the ones that deal with self reflection and personal identity. After pregnancy, those same areas are oriented more toward your child, toward reading their cues, and toward keeping them safe.
The old version of you is still in there somewhere, but your brain built a new identity around it and the previous one does not sit in the same place anymore.
Every mom I talk to describes this same feeling. Like they can remember facts about their old life but cannot actually feel what it was like to live it.
That's because the hardware reorganized.

Stroking my son’s hair, kissing his chubby cheeks, waking to his morning babbles, watching him do something for the first time, the smile he has when he sees me, the tiny feet that are the most scrumptious things in the world — the honor it is to be his mother, forever grateful.

It makes me sad we are all so uneducated on breastfeeding in the UK.
Seeing mothers devastated bc their "milk didn't come in" mere days after giving birth. It's NORMAL. Your milk doesn't come in until day 3-5 normally! They will cluster feed and that is NORMAL too!
