Please don’t glorify that specific aspect. Starining to the point of coughing blood is insanely dangerous for vocal health and shouldn’t be something we elevate as a metric for any actor’s dedication in any language. Theres plenty of better ways to appreciate Aleks’ work.

Because that has never been the correct tense of the word. I’ve never seen a single professional casting call use this verbiage because it’s wrong. If you want to own a studio, the least you can do is use correct verbiage to present yourself well to potential clients and actors

Silence doesn’t confirm or deny anything when it comes to professional drama. Saying anything one way or the other publicly *can* impact our ability to work if we are perceived as unprofessional in doing so. Doesn’t mean we aren’t quietly VERY tired…

I also think there’s a bigger conversation to be had here about putting ANY voice actor or someone you enjoy on a pedestal. WE ARE ALL HUMAN. And even if you love someone’s performance, it doesn’t automatically make them a good or perfect person.

Open auditions are intended to create access for performers who do not already have established industry pathways. When actors who regularly work on major Crunchyroll titles participate in publicly advertised open auditions, particularly those hosted in Crunchyroll’s home market, it shifts the balance away from discovery and toward reinforcement of existing access.
This is why shows like American Idol and The Voice restrict participants with major recording contracts: not because of talent, but to preserve fairness and opportunity for those without structural advantages. Open VO auditions serve a similar purpose and should be treated with the same spirit.

Hi! It’s Megan! Since you blocked me on my main account and I can’t reply to you using the relevant account in this situation, let me just use my VTuber account (which is how I initially saw this tweet) to set something straight. I’m not pitting anyone against each other. I’m not blaming BangZoom or Anime Frontier in any of this. I am absolutely blaming pre-existing talent for participating in an event meant for newer people looking to have an opportunity of a lifetime. The voice acting community was actively discouraging others in our shoes NOT to participate because this isn’t a space meant for us. If you are actively getting auditions from one of the top distributors of anime, then I’m sorry, but this space isn’t for you. These people have gone to events and sold autographs. This space isn’t for them. These people cut in the line last year and it left a sour taste in the public’s mouth. This space isn’t for them. I don’t care if there is an explicit rule or not. This behavior is not right and if I’m the only one that’s going by to call my own community out, then so be it. I’m not pitting anyone against each other. I am holding them accountable. Those are two VERY different things.
