Unpopular opinion of the day: Requiring reading logs documenting how many minutes or pages young people read is more about compliance and exerting control than "motivating" readers or "proving" any reading occurred.

In Sudan last year the police protected the people from the military. Will the US military protect the people against the police in the US, or is Sudan actually the more democratic country willing to defend the right to peaceful protest?!
