The team describes it as 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 2021 𝐍𝐅𝐓 𝐞𝐫𝐚, a time when minting felt exciting, communities felt alive, and every PFP felt like the beginning of something bigger. At its core, ODD CATS is a collection of 5,555 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐬, each created with its own personality and charm. Rather than following the usual formula, the team is focused on building a collection that’s simple, memorable, and fun to be part of. The first collection introduces 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬, 𝐨𝐧-𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧-𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The team is also exploring a new way to mint and hold NFTs, combining art with technology inspired by the Bitcoin protocol. It’s an experiment they believe hasn’t been done before. Holding an ODD CAT is designed to unlock more than just ownership. Holders gain access to a private community, early-access channels, and future expansions of the ODD CATS universe, including new characters, companion pieces, and an evolving story. One thing that caught our attention was the team’s willingness to adapt. Ahead of launch, they reduced the collection size from 10,000 𝐭𝐨 5,555, replaced the original Guaranteed To Deliver (GTD) model with a Whitelist (WL) system, and introduced dedicated mint phases for partner communities. Rather than sticking to the original plan, they chose to make changes they believe are better for the project’s long-term direction. ❖ 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐭 A lot of projects launch with good art. What made ODD CATS stand out to us was the direction behind it. The team isn’t just dropping another PFP collection. They’re trying to bring back the feeling that made early NFT communities enjoyable while experimenting with a different way to mint and hold. We also liked that they weren’t afraid to make changes before launch. Reducing the supply and reworking the mint structure wasn’t the easy option, but it shows they’re thinking beyond mint day. ❖ 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 At AUREX, we look beyond hype.
