Former Apple Special Council Guy Kawasaki has a term for this he calls the "Genius Trap". When you create something that is truly unique but not necessarily *innovative*, it's really easy to put the cart before the horse and invest your life into something completely useless.
Meanwhile, there are no good non-valuable businesses. There are no door-to-door vacuum salesmen or laserdisk factories today. Just like there are no Juicero companies or $1,000,000 NFT minters. Silicon Valley worships uniquness without necessarily considering value.
As a side note, Kawasaki is a really interesting dude in that way all smart people are a little crazy. He has a free book about why everyone should exclusively be using Signal to communicate and afaik practices that to his own detriment. Very principled.
