The City of Harare has given residents of regularised informal settlements until November 9, 2026, to meet council requirements or risk demolition.
Acting Town Clerk Warren Sean Chiwawa said affected property owners must pay prescribed penalties, settle land costs, submit building plans for approval and complete outstanding infrastructure.
Structures on environmentally sensitive land or sites reserved for public facilities will be demolished regardless of regularisation status.
The council warned that after the deadline, demolitions will proceed without further notice, with property owners bearing the costs.

But wait… Zimbabwe is nowhere to be seen!
So, by this logic, we should be popping champagne?
Or is this one of those moments when being missing from the list is not exactly a flex?
Be honest, Zimbabweans: are we secretly doing better than we think or is this a case of “at least we are not on the list”?

BULAWAYO WARD 1 BY-ELECTION: Tsikira WINS AS TURNOUT HITS 12.4%
ZANU PF candidate Mathias Tichaona Tsikira won the Ward 1, Bulawayo Municipality by-election with 1,590 votes, ahead of independent candidate Shepherd Sithole (112) and CCC candidate Mduduzi Sibanda (74).
Of 14,409 registered voters, turnout was approximately 12.4%, according to the Election Resource Centre’s analysis.
