AI scales the work. The judgment is still on you. That's the risk most leaders are missing, according to Jack Mardack, co-founder of Oyster (@HeyOyster) and Mercedes Marín García, Director General of Training at @ComunidadMadrid at South Summit26. What's at risk isn't the job. It's the judgment. Leaders fear AI will replace their teams. The real danger is that it replaces their judgment, invisibly, without anyone noticing until it's too late. Verification is now a leadership function. You can automate decisions. You cannot automate responsibility for them. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: treating AI as an individual productivity tool. That's only the first step. The real opportunity is organizational redesign. Most leaders aren't asking that question yet. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆: stop measuring activity. Start measuring outputs. That's what @2hp (Jack Mardack) and Mercedes Marín García debated at South Summit26.

If anyone is creating a company that helps companies that pulls companies up these levels, I'd love to meet. Particularly around legibility and/or non-engineer usage of AI

They're nearing $100M ARR – but this SaaS began with humans doing the work behind a basic website. @jamingo and @2hp's journey with @HeyOyster : They launched in January 2020 with a mission to help companies hire internationally. When the pandemic hit two months later, remote work exploded. Every needed their solution. The problem? Their product was far some 'ready'. Instead of turning customers away, they built a Wizard of Oz MVP: 1/ Built a simple frontend for requests 2/ Behind the scenes? Manual work by humans - Writing contracts - Processing payroll - Managing compliance - Handling taxes This limitation, turned into an advantage. Every manual process taught them: - Where customers struggled most - Which workflows needed automation - What edge cases they hadn't considered - How to build better software Four years later: - 2000+ customers globally - 550 employees across 70 countries - 100% remote, zero offices - 60% growth in 2023 (while others were laying off) The lesson? When demand is knocking, speed beats perfection. Start with whatever you have. Even if it's just humans, spreadsheets, and sleepless nights fixing customer problems by hand. What could you launch today? Full interview with Oyster's CEO, Tony Jamous: saasclub.io/podcast/oyster-t… --- Want more insights to help build and grow your SaaS? Get my 5-minute weekly newsletter.
