Want to know a city’s priorities? Watch its traffic lights.
At this Delft intersection, pedestrians and cyclists enjoy a non-stop green light. Drivers must ask permission to cross the foot+bike path through a sensor.
Infrastructure shapes how we move. Signals show who we value.

It this the idea? Is this the best we can do to protect our pedestrians?
Assistant Garda Commissioner Denis Ferry said "all pedestrians" including in urban areas should wear high visibility clothing.

"What this says is you can drink drive a bit, you just check that you're under the limit... why would anybody need a breathalyser before they get in a car, unless they've been drinking and have their car keys in their pocket?"
Anton questions the message the RSA is sending by putting breathalysers in hotels and pubs.
The Road Safety Authority will spend €1.5 million on putting breathalyser terminals in hotels and pubs around the country to allow motorists to check if they are over the limit before driving.
425,000 people have admitted to drink driving in the past year, with about 5,000 arrests made.
🎙️Dr Sheila Gilheany, CEO of Alcohol Action Ireland, joined us to talk about this latest move by the RSA, and the need for more enforcement.

Putting a facade on a prefab concrete block in the former east Berlin. The underlying structure is unaltered; instead, the architects have:
- Given it a coat of plaster;
- Painted it in varying colours;
- Broken up the massing with some clever tricks to the window and roofline detailing.
Look closely: the floor height remains continuous and the windows are all in the same places as before. The effect of spontaneity and variety is created by using ornament create patterns of group and emphasis.

Really poor from @Independent_ie. Recent speed limit surveys in Co. Galway. Craughwell - 84% exceeding limit, Loughrea - 74%. Speeding is endemic in Ireland, hardwired into our driving culture. Cameras are uniquely effective in enforcing limits, making our roads safer for all.

Les secours/police/ambulance ont souvent tendance à combattre les créations de nouvelles pistes cyclables.
Et pourtant, une fois construites, ils sont systématiquement bien content de les avoir, leur faisant gagner un temps considérable.

Making Central Park car-free was undoubtedly the correct choice. The idea that making urban parks car-free is so divisive is something I don’t understand.
It’s a new era for Vision Zero.

This is a Street Scar. They’re common across many British high streets & side streets, particularly visible when the street surface is stone or setts as here. They exist due to an error in legislation which has frozen the maximum fine on utility firms who don’t do their job….
