Being a Doctor still the best job in the world. I wouldn't trade this journey for anything else even if it paid better

Any nation that has endured a hundred years of cruelty does not ask its savior to be gentle. It asks for them to be final. He who saves the nation commits no crime in the eyes of the people.

Mbappe has apologised to China. La Liga as a body apologised to China. La Liga president personally apologised. The podcast organisers where he made the joke has apologised to China. Real Madrid has just apologised to China. The only people left to apologise to China right now are Mbappe’s parents and his unborn children. In this world we live in ehn, Please have influence and leverage as a country. Just make sure you have it. China is clearly showing what power is. But the foolish lunatics in the Nigerian government are busy ruining the country and making us a global laughingstock.

Talking about revenue generation instead of corruption immediately after Dayo Israel spent one billion on Prados is helping the enemy, whichever way you slice it. You're helping them execute their playbook.
A good rule of thumb for Twitter is that if the points you raise start to align with the talking points of an org you agree is objectively evil, you probably should take a step back and re-evaluate your position no matter how good your intentions might be.

Whether Mao was a dictator is not decided by Western encyclopedias and a few Cold War textbooks. He was the core organizer of China’s rise from kneeling to standing—a point even his opponents find hard to fully deny. Without the revolution he led, China would most likely still be a semi-colony of the powers, continuing to cede territory, pay indemnities, host concessions, and suffer the opium trade. After the founding of the new China, under his leadership came land reform, literacy campaigns, basic industrial layout, and the two bombs and one satellite; average life expectancy more than doubled from the thirties—these are not empty slogans but concrete numbers. The Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution were serious errors that caused enormous human losses and social turmoil; the Chinese Communist Party itself wrote this clearly in its historical resolution, more honestly than many Western scholars. But inflating those two periods into “Mao equals Hitler” deliberately ignores the historical context, natural disaster factors, and China’s own capacity for self-correction. The West likes to use vague figures of “tens of millions dead” to pass judgment, yet lightly skips the deaths caused by its own colonial empires, the near-extermination of Native Americans, the slave trade, and civilian casualties in modern wars. Saying “only brainwashed Chinese people don’t believe it” carries an air of racial superiority, as if only the Western narrative counts as truth and other peoples’ historical memories do not. Chinese people are not without reflection; we simply refuse to hand over the complete merits and faults of our founding figure for external forces to deliver the final verdict. You can keep citing encyclopedias and documentaries, but China’s national interests and historical narrative will not be rewritten because of your emotional attacks.

I know a lot of people in the West are baffled by the Mbappé-Mao storm in China - which in itself shows that Mbappé's ignorance doesn't come out of nowhere... To understand it, here's the best analogy I could think of: imagine the biggest Chinese star in the NBA, with sponsorship deals all over the US. One day he's asked for his favorite meme of himself. He giggles: "the one where they put my face on some guy, I think he was an American slave owner." When the "some guy" in question is George Washington. Whatever you think of the label, you know exactly how that would land in the US: an ungrateful foreigner getting rich off Americans, laughing at the country's founding father in an offensive way - at least to a big share of the population - without even knowing his name. A founding father is the story a nation tells itself about where it comes from. Laugh at him as a foreigner while cashing in on that nation's consumers, and that's not going to go well in any country. The label is also extremely un-nuanced: yes, all important historical figures have their share of darkness and Washington and Mao are no exception. China actually recognizes this: the official line is that he was "70% right and 30% wrong," and the Party's 1981 resolution condemned how his "personal arbitrariness gradually undermined democratic centralism in Party life and the personality cult grew graver and graver" (marxists.org/subject/china/d…) Same for Washington: it's officially acknowledged too. Or at least it was until this year: in January, the National Park Service tore down an exhibit in Philadelphia about the people Washington enslaved there, under a Trump executive order targeting content that "inappropriately disparage[s]" Americans (associationforpublicart.org/…). Which goes to show China isn't uniquely touchy about its founding father...
🚨 JUST IN: Chinese beverage company DongPeng has ended their sponsorship with Kylian Mbappé after he referred to former Chinese Premier Mao Zedong as a “dictator”. The company stated that they have “zero tolerance” for statements that hurt national sentiment. @marca

What I hate most on here are pseudo-intelligent anon accounts with their half-truths and generic profile. If you actually read that book, you would know she dedicated an entire chapter to how the National Assembly held the national budget hostage every year just to protect their opaque financial allocations. She was literally fighting the financial deceit you are trying to defend. Beyond their basic salary, each senator takes home a #21 million monthly allowance, which is paid directly into their personal bank accounts in cash. It is untaxed. It is unaudited. And they never return the unspent balance. It is, by every financial definition, take-home pay. That's well over #260 million per annum. [premiumtimesng.com/news/top-…] This was in 2024, and there have been increases since then. If you can cite a book you haven't read in an attempt to sound smart, then you should be literate enough (hopefully) to search for the other salaries used as comparison. Defend along partisan lines if you feel the need to do so, but do not bring your half-baked illiteracy to my mentions. I’d tell you to use your real face, but honestly, I’d also be embarrassed to publicly defend a ₦21 million untaxed allowance while the country is fighting for a ₦70k minimum wage. And lastly, do not quote me with such fallacious nonsense again. You're not smart. You're not intelligent. You're completely unimportant and this is the most attention you'll get from me.
#NotTrue. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweal addressed this in her book "Fighting Corruption is Dangerous". Why would you think a Senator in a country like Nigeria will outearn a USA or UK Senator??? Their basic pay don't compare o. Even allowances.

btw, a senator earns more than the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, double a British MP, and way more than a fucking US Senator. And before the Naira crash they engineered, a senator took home more in raw US dollars than the President of the United States himself!!
I really hate this NELFUND argument. And as usual those defending the government have concluded that one of the most lavish administrations in the world cannot afford to fund tertiary education. UNESCO recommends that at least 15–20% of the federal budget be allocated to education. That is the barest minimum. But of course, this forward-thinking government of the people gives barely 5%, as there are presidential aircraft to be refurbished, SUV fleets to be upgraded, and villas to be renovated, so they cannot afford to invest in education, unfortunately. Instead, they pass the burden onto you by giving you loans. No government that blows billions on frivolities should have the audacity to tell its citizens it cannot give education the barest minimum, yet even with the second highest number of out-of-school children in the world, they do. Because they know for a fact that a number of you have reached such levels of idiocy that you will clap when they spit in your face. And scream for joy and praise them, in your poverty-induced myopia, for their "benevolence", calling it a "good initiative", and start drawing parallels to the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. They enjoyed the same education for free, pulled the ladder up behind them, and now hand you a loan instead. And yet you praise them for your future debts, calling it "interest-free" and that you can pay back "only when you're comfortable." Can you not see that you're mad?

You should ask the presidency and his cohort how they're able to lavish millions of dollars on yacths, house renovations, and Prados when they have more than 100m people to educate
So, in a poor nation where 70% of its 240 million population is under 20 years, how exactly do you fund quality education for 18000 a year????

I will never speak against subsidy in this country because i know the money saved will never be used to improve the quality of life of the citizens. No money for MRI, ambulance, de fibrillator but there is 1bn+ for Prado.

The choice of university you attend for your undergraduate degree is very important. One would think that the university is primarily for learning, especially at the undergraduate level, but it’s much more than that. For many young adults, this is the first time they get to live away from home. They get to make friends, they get to become themselves, have their own identity, and it’s important that you’re in the company of smart people who would help you actualise your potential. And this is why I think that university education, especially at the undergraduate level, cannot be done online. Maybe a mix of some hybrid setup where people also get to meet each other once in a while. But if you make university education, especially at the undergraduate level, completely online, you’re missing a very vital part of education itself, which is character development, and it’s interesting to watch young people who think they know better argue against this.
