Under the Earned Settlement model set out before Parliament today, the right to live in the UK permanently will no longer be granted automatically after five years.
Instead, it will be earned.
Under the reforms:

➡️ People who enter illegally, including by small boat, face a wait of up to 30 years to settle
➡️ Care workers who meet the visa requirements will retain a five-year route
➡️ Higher earners on more than £50,000, skilled public service workers and refugees arriving on safe and legal routes will be able to settle in five years
➡️ Migrants who claim benefits face a 20-year wait for settlement
➡️ Migrants with a criminal record will be prevented from settling in the UK
➡️ Migrants will be required to meet A-level standard English to settle in the UK

That’s why they’ve fiddled the minimum wage then. At 37 hours a week, £12.71 is £24,454 a year, below the £25k threshold. From April, £13.21 pushes it to £25,416 – just over.
The betrayal was planned months ago. It’s all a con.
