This a.m at Alkborough, Beardies at times showed well, with a lot of gritting up- great to see juveniles
This morning at @RSPBFrampton : 9 whoopers flew in and left after 5mins, 2 drake pintail, plenty of wigeon and 2 marsh harriers among others, no sign peregrine this time.
With such great weather this morning thought I'd give Alkborough a try, and after a bit of a wait the Beardies showed well
My reward for an early start at @RSPBFrampton this a.m, crippling views of a Peregrine sat out on the reedbed for a good hour π₯°π₯°. Also 2 groups of Whooper's
My last morning in Shetland was spent with the Fladdabister Arctic Warbler, then it was the ferry and a nice long drive home ....
Our last full day, with a gorgeous Quendale Starling basking in the sun. Another great trip tho a bit too windy the last couple of days. See ya next year Shetland
Today on Shetland a gorgeous Siskin from Quendale (also YBW), a bit distant Levenwick Siberian Stonechat and of course, from Spiggie Loch, Whooper Swans
With most really good birds departing Shetland overnight, I scratted around a while but finally got female King Eider off Twagoes Road Lerwick shown for comparison with regular Eider.
After dipping a few times early, today on Shetland was all about the Siberian Blue Robin, which i did see a few times (phew) but never managed any pics, so heres a Wren, Willow Warbler and Yellow-browed Warbler from same garden. Thanks @HughHarrop for letting us see it.
the weather was very Shetland today with strong winds and afternoon rain, so not much birding. Black Guillemots from Lerwick and Whooper Swan's from Spiggie Loch shown, we get around 50 in the mornings which are usually gone in the p.m - except today
Today on Shetland heard YBW at Geosetter, saw the Sumburgh Hotel bird, then found Sanderling on nearby beach which ran around foraging as they do ππ€£
Today's Esha Ness Lapland Bunting showed real well, still a bit blowy but then it is Shetland π¬οΈ
Start of a session on Shetland it was a bit blowy today, but the Quendale Citrine Wagtail showed beautifully before Whoopers and Scaup at Spiggie, then it π§οΈπ§οΈ
A few hours at @RSPBFrampton - had Snipe, Meadow Pipits and a young Ruff ridiculously close on the reedbed, though the light wasnt great
yesterday - @RSPBTitchwell , missed crake by 15m (π€‘) but plenty of other birds around - curlew catching & finally consuming crab, black-tailed godwit & ruff shown.
Highlight for me at @RSPBFrampton this am was all the Yellow Wagtails, adult & juv, maybe 50 in total π―, centred around NE area
My 4th trip to Eastleach Long-tailed Shrike this a.m, no danger of heat haze. Showed superbly, as it foraged for insects, totally unconcerned by its admirers as twice it flew towards us.
Great to see the Freiston Shore Wryneck late morning a real beauty @RSPBFrampton
This morning at @RSPBFrampton reedbed - Little Stint, Turnstone, around 200 plovers many jv, mostly ringed but a few little ringed. Also 23 Spoonbill and a very high tide
