Adam Lambert didn't just become famous as an openly gay artist... he helped change what that visibility could look like in mainstream pop. In 2012, his album Trespassing made history as the first album by an openly gay male artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. But perhaps the more interesting part of his story is what came after. He went from American Idol finalist to the frontman of Queen, Broadway performer, solo artist and LGBTQ+ advocate... without having to hide the person he was to build the career he wanted. And now, decades into his career, he's still doing things on his own terms. That kind of longevity hits differently when you remember how many people once believed being openly gay could limit a man's place in the music industry. 🖤
