The Rams elect to go play action, and when the play is initially marked short at the half yard line, that was realistically *better* than scoring the TD. 1st and goal at the half yard line, I would put the Rams at ~95% to score a TD on the ensuing plays, with the added benefit of the clock very low and approaching 0. Another consideration here is that the punter doing kickoffs, it is hard to get a precise kickoff in the landing zone so a touchback to the 35 is most likely. Down 1 with 47 seconds from their own 35, the Cardinals odds of winning are about 25%. The review that "helped" the Rams actually hurt them. In Madden, a lot of players would probably try to go down at the 1. Wish it was that easy in real life. Close to impossible to coach that here, though it would be interesting if a team tried instructing players to go down after they got the first down in a situational like this one.
