🇵🇰🇮🇷🇸🇦 Pakistan's army chief bought Saudi Arabia three months of quiet.
Three officials told The Times of Israel that Asim Munir brokered a deal in late March for Tehran to stop striking the kingdom.
His leverage was an oil venture tied to him and IRGC chief Ahmad Vahidi, moving Iranian crude into Pakistan. With the U.S. blockading Iranian ports, that route is worth a fortune to both men.
Saudi Arabia had been under regular Iranian fire before the deal. Afterwards it went almost untouched.
Iran broke the streak over the weekend, Munir warned Vahidi the venture was at risk, and nothing has been fired since.
One Middle East diplomat called it legitimising the protection money Iran is squeezing out of the Gulf.
Islamabad's logic is simpler. The more Riyadh needs Pakistan, the better.
