"Virat, you keep talking about Sahir, are you ever going to write something about him?"
Well, here it is. My tribute to Sahir Ludhianvi on his 102 birth anniversary. Thank you @indian_link for allowing me to go long on this!

There's this incredibly overwhelming ending to this poem by David White, which articulates *precisely* how I've felt about love. How it builds to this declaration:
"You've simply had enough of drowning..."
Revisiting it is way too much for me. I can't do it. But it's perfect

Always thought SUVs are a far-too-obvious metaphor for our era of neoliberalism.
Take out a big loan to enclose your family in a comfortable bubble. Safe inside, deadly to those around you.

Film: INCREDIBLE BUT TRUE (2022)
Dir: Quentin Dupieux
Easily in my top 3 favourite films from last year. Traverses the realms of absurd comedy and magical realism with such ease. And this isn't even the most incredible (but true) revelation of the film!

I can die happy now. The first time I got to speak to her, that was in April 2022. Feels like a million years ago. And now, she will always have “Academy Award nominee” in front of her name. Also, you guys are not ready for her performance in JOY RIDE #StephanieHsu #EEAAO #SXSW

I’m not much of a political strategist but if I had info that Australia was going to get hit with a summer of record temps and a massive risk of bushfires, I’d be putting out a pretty strong policy to actually cut emissions…
Replying to @US_Stormwatch
Sea surface temperatures are even outpacing 2016 when the last Super El Niño occurred.
Another El Niño will likely develop this summer/fall and could potentially be quite strong. Stay tuned.

JOY RIDE fucking slaps! Raunchy, nasty, sex-positive, and at its core, sweet and gratifying. And it’s so fucking weird to see Asian people doing all of this. Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu are DYNAMITE together! I want 10 more movies with them #SXSW
Regina Cassandra is a revelation in the role of Mrinalini Sarabhai in #RocketBoys2 - for a show that's centred around the two 'rocket boys' per se, it's Regina who ensures that Mrinalini Sarabhai stands on her own and commands a presence as a character (as she did in real life)

BJP and Congress MLAs demand parents consent/signature for love marriages ‘to reduce crime’ while none of their laws on dowry, rape, domestic violence and sexual harassment have reduced violence against women in any way. All this while they’re releasing rapists 👏🏼

I'm not so sure Australia can be India's 'trusted partner', not with how closely aligned it still continues to be with China as things stand. Also, overlooking the worrying communal and majoritarian rise in that country for our (Australian) benefit is unwise.
What the democratic world wants from India is obvious. But treating India as the answer to every strategic problem carries real risk of alienating the country, writes Misha Zelinsky. bit.ly/3Lx5CjS
