BREAKING: HOLY SMOKES! Democrats now control enough states to effectively abolish the Electoral College through the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. Republicans did NOT have this on their bingo cards... Under the Constitution, states control their electoral votes and are allowed to decide how they are allocated during presidential elections. Currently, almost every state gives its votes to whoever wins the state. In practice, the current system means that a candidate can win the national popular vote, but lose the election because small states like Wyoming exert undue influence on the outcome. That state has 3 electoral votes with a population of just 577,000 people. California has 54 electoral votes and a population of 39.5 million people. So a vote in Wyoming is essentially 3.8 times as valuable as one in California. Since 1992, Democrats have won the popular vote seven out of nine times. Under the NPV, states that join agree to give their electoral votes to whoever wins the national popular vote, not just their own state. So a state could go red on the map, but if the Democrat wins the national vote, they still get that state's votes. And vice versa of course. The crucial mechanism is that the compact doesn't trigger until the member states have a combined power of at least 270 electoral votes, the number needed to win the White House. So far, 18 states plus D.C. have joined, totaling 222 electoral votes. We only need 48 more. Now is the chance to pass this measure in every state possible. Democrats won both houses of the legislature in Wisconsin for the first time in 18 years (10 electoral votes). We won the Pennsylvania state Senate for the first time since 1993 (19 votes). We now have a trifecta in Michigan (15 votes). And we won the governor’s race in Nevada (6 votes). 10 + 19 + 15 + 6 = 50. 222 + 50 = 272. And if we hold our lead in the Arizona Senate, that number could climb as high as 283, more than enough to trigger the compact. In addition to removing an imbalance in our system that favors Republicans, this novel approach would fundamentally change how candidates run their presidential campaigns. Currently, they are incentivized to ignore most of the country. If you live in a “safe” state, red or blue, your vote for President is basically decided before you cast it. Campaigns spend their time and money in a handful of swing states while the rest of us watch from the sidelines. If the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is adopted, they'll have reason to hit every state because they're aiming to win the largest swath of the country as a whole, not just certain states. States have until July 20, 2028 to join the compact in time for the next presidential election. We can fix our democracy. The time is now. Please ❤️ and share if you support this idea!

Now would be a good time to remind everyone of these Trump facts, because apparently some people still need the refresher. Please meet the President of the United States: Flew on Epstein’s plane at least seven times. Just friends, I guess. Pleaded the Fifth more than 400 times in a single deposition. Nothing says “innocent” like refusing to answer a single question about your own business. 34 felony convictions. A record most people would call disqualifying. And 91 criminal charges. Accused of sexual misconduct or assault by at least 26 women. But sure, tell me again how he’s a great guy. 6 corporate bankruptcies. The self proclaimed greatest businessman alive somehow keeps running out of money. 5 draft deferments. Funny how the toughest guy in the room never actually showed up for duty. He said "not for me" when asked to defend his country. 4 criminal indictments. Not two. Not three. Four . 2 impeachments. A club of exactly one president. 2 of his own companies convicted of criminal tax fraud. Convicted. Not accused. Convicted. 1 fake university shut down. 1 fake charity shut down. Even his charity was a grift. Paid 25 million dollars to settle the Trump University fraud lawsuit because scamming people who believed in you costs money eventually. Ordered to pay 5 million dollars in the first E Jean Carroll sexual abuse verdict, then hit with 83.3 million more in the second. A jury said it twice so nobody could pretend it was a fluke. Ordered to pay 2 million dollars for looting his own so called charity. Stealing from a charity with his own name on it. Found liable for business fraud and originally slapped with a penalty topping 450 million dollars, later thrown out on appeal while the fraud finding itself stuck to him anyway. First president in modern history to increase the deficit every single year of a full term. Fiscal responsibility, apparently, was always just a talking point. HE PERSONALLY OWNS 30% OF THE NATIONAL DEBT. Kept the debt to GDP ratio above 100 percent for his entire first term. Presided over the largest single day point drop in Dow Jones history at the time. So much for the guy who claimed to be a genius with money. Set the record for the longest government shutdown in US history in his first term at 35 days, then couldn’t resist beating his own miserable record in his second term with a 43 day shutdown, followed by yet another shutdown just months later. Encore nobody asked for. ONLY PRESIDENT WITH THREE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWNS. Added roughly 2.25 trillion dollars to the national debt in his first year back in office alone, pushing the debt past 39 trillion dollars. Somebody remind me who the party of fiscal discipline is again. Pushed through the largest defense budget increase since World War Two while the debt kept climbing anyway. Purged more than 300,000 federal employees in his first year back. Efficient, if your goal is chaos. Pardoned nearly 1,600 January 6 Capitol rioters on his very first day back in office, including Oath Keepers and Proud Boys leaders convicted of seditious conspiracy. Law and order, except when it’s inconvenient. At least 400 of those pardoned rioters have already been rearrested, charged, or sentenced for new crimes since walking free. Shocking absolutely nobody. His family’s crypto ventures, including a meme coin and World Liberty Financial, pulled in more than 1.4 billion dollars in disclosed earnings while he sat in the Oval Office. Draining the swamp was apparently code for filling his own pockets. Sent the National Guard into American cities at a cost of nearly 500 million taxpayer dollars in 2025 alone. Then bragged about lower crime rates in said states. His own tariffs are projected to cost the average American household more than 2,500 dollars this year. You’re paying for this. Not China. You. No more foreign wars. Peace deal with Russia and Ukraine on Day One. Now sitting at one of the lowest approval ratings of his second term, stuck in the high 30s while inflation and gas prices make everyday life harder. None of this is a conspiracy theory, a rumor, or something you saw in a group chat. It is the actual, documented record, sitting in plain sight for anyone willing to look. So the next time someone tells you to relax and give him a chance, ask them how many more indictments, judgments, and shutdown records he needs to rack up before that chance runs out. Robert S Warner

🚨Alan shearer reacts to Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield and Arteta’s tactics approach: 🗣️ “I still can’t process what I’ve just watched. Arsenal go to Anfield — Anfield — and they don’t just win 1-0. They keep Liverpool to zero shots on target. Zero. Not one. At Anfield. Against this Liverpool team. Are we serious right now? Mikel Arteta has just put on an absolute tactical masterclass, and I’m saying this with my chest: he is the best defensive coach in world football right now. Nobody is organising a side like this. Nobody. The backline was ridiculous. Konza and Gabriel just… controlled the entire defensive third. Liverpool’s attackers were getting absolutely nothing. No space, no time, no half-yard. They were suffocating them. And it wasn’t just the centre-backs — the whole unit was so disciplined. Every time Liverpool tried to find a runner in behind, someone was already there. It was like they had a sixth defender at times. Then you look at the midfield. Arteta deliberately made it a mess in the middle. Crowded the central areas, cut off the passing lanes, stopped Liverpool from ever getting into a rhythm. Their midfielders couldn’t dictate anything. Every time they tried to play, there was a red shirt right on them. It was compact, organised, and completely deliberate. The pressing traps were smart as well. They knew exactly when to jump and when to drop. They weren’t just running around like headless chickens. They forced Liverpool into those uncomfortable, predictable passes and then recovered their shape instantly. Liverpool looked frustrated because they couldn’t find the pockets they usually find. And the game management? That’s where Arteta showed his maturity. He knew when to slow it down, when to sit deeper, when to step up. Arsenal never lost their shape. Never got stretched. They managed the moments perfectly. That’s elite coaching. Defending at Anfield takes concentration, courage and organisation. Arsenal showed all three for 90 minutes. That’s not easy. A lot of teams go there and freeze. Arsenal went there and controlled the environment. And to all the people who constantly moan that Arteta is too defensive or too cautious — what exactly did you want them to do at Anfield? Play an open, expansive game and let Liverpool tear them apart on the counter? Be serious. Some managers spend hundreds of millions trying to build this beautiful attacking identity and still can’t organise a defence half as well as Arteta has done with this group. Hundreds of millions. And they still concede more chances than Arsenal did tonight. Arsenal aren’t just a team that wants to compete for trophies anymore. They’re becoming a team that knows how to win the ugly, difficult, horrible games. The ones that actually matter. The ones at Anfield. Forget all the noise about beautiful football. You go to Anfield, keep Liverpool to ZERO shots on target and walk away with three points. That’s not luck. That’s elite coaching. Mikel Arteta deserves serious respect. Arsenal march on!”

France is showing the world what real accountability looks like. Paris prosecutors have launched a major criminal investigation into Elon Musk’s X, raided its Paris offices and summoned Musk and former CEO Linda Yaccarino for questioning. The allegations are staggering, political manipulation through algorithms, child sexual abuse material, sexually explicit deepfakes generated by Grok without consent, Holocaust denial, unlawful data extraction and election interference. While Musk parades around pretending to be a defender of free speech, his platform faces allegations involving the exploitation of children, the sexual abuse of women through AI-generated imagery, the manipulation of political discourse and threats to democratic elections. Bravo, France! This is what standing up to billionaire arrogance looks like. Democracy is not a billionaire's personal playground, social media platforms are not above the law, and Elon Musk does not get to buy himself immunity from accountability. France is making it clear that the rule of law still matters, and the rest of the democratic world should be paying attention.

Three blacklisted oil tankers carrying 140,000 tons of Russian fuel are circling in the Atlantic. The White House reached out to American traders, urging them to purchase Putin’s diesel—but not a single buyer answered the call. Panicked by a surge in fuel prices just ahead of the midterm elections, the White House struck a deal with the Kremlin on October 9 to circumvent import bans. The administration expected Wall Street traders to jump at the chance to acquire cheap Russian diesel; instead, they treated the cargo as if it were nuclear waste. Why? Because the legal implications of such a deal could be disastrous for them. In 2022, Congress explicitly outlawed the import of Russian oil. A paper exemption issued by the U.S. Treasury carries no weight against a congressional ban—meaning any trader who touches Russian diesel or gasoline risks federal imprisonment and a subpoena from Congress. The chaos at sea is Kafkaesque in its absurdity. The tanker *Agioi Fanendes* departed St. Petersburg bound for New York, only to come to a halt in the middle of the ocean, now awaiting "further instructions"—maritime shorthand for "we are drifting aimlessly because no one wants to buy our cargo." The rest of Putin’s "shadow fleet" is faring no better. The *Talisman* is blacklisted by both Washington and Europe, while the *Leruo* is banned across the EU, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Yet, officials in the White House—aligned with Trump’s agenda—have been working the phones, attempting to secure berths for these Russian vessels in American ports. But Wall Street’s reaction was ice-cold. Even with Moscow offering substantial discounts, grey-market oil traders have kept their heads down. Former U.S. Treasury officials have already warned that any contact with these vessels would be corporate suicide; consequently, 140,000 tons of diesel are currently adrift in the Atlantic without a single buyer in sight. Meanwhile, Congress has taken a hard line. Democrats—along with some Republicans—have warned potential buyers that they risk committing a federal crime, while Senator Blumenthal has sent formal warnings directly to the shipowners, demanding that they turn their vessels around immediately. New Jersey Representative Mikie Sherrill—a former naval officer and federal prosecutor—has labeled the Trump-linked deal "corrupt and illegal." She has already prepared a series of measures to block major East Coast fuel terminals in Bayonne, Linden, Carteret, Perth Amboy, and Port Reading. With American ports closed and the threat of congressional action looming, Washington and Moscow are scrambling to find a way out of this predicament. Energy experts suggest that, with no American buyer willing to take the risk, the rejected Russian diesel will likely have to be offloaded in South America at rock-bottom prices—resulting in a loss. The White House’s desperate scheme—an attempt to circumvent federal law, lower diesel prices ahead of the November 3rd election, and funnel money to Moscow—appears to have failed. Much like the ships in Putin’s "ghost fleet," they are left wandering the seas and oceans, with nowhere to dock…

You know why free zones are not discussed in the MSM, and so-called alternative media? It's all down to secondary legislation. The duopoly's nationwide free zones rollout was not debated in Parliament. The public were not consulted. The press were not notified. The UK is being carved up into corporate-governed regions, and what's more, the public is paying for it with hundreds of millions of pounds in State aid. That's public money being used for corporate profit with a distribution ratio of 9/10 in favour of the private sector. PFI, PPP is a Ponzi scheme for the asset classes. BTW this is all highly illegal within the EU, the EU Commission clearly states that state aid must not be used for profit motive in free zones. This is why Brexit was forced through. But our government calls this, "economic growth". To date, the EU has 62 free zones, they are being wound down due to widespread corporate corruption. Today, the UK now has 91 free zones.
A new asset class is being identified as ‘Nature’s Economy’, where a country’s rivers, lakes, forests are targeted by a sovereign wealth fund controlled by a Saudi Prince, or Blackrock for example. Locals will have no say on Natural Asset Companies (NACs) monetising green spaces as not yet existing in the economy or indeed in a corporation's financial portfolio. NACs would earn money by ‘improving’ ecosystems and putting a dollar figure on benefits like clean air or wildlife habitat. 25 state attorneys general opposed NACs, and the NYSE withdrew it in January 2024 But…. What @_whitneywebb Webb and Others Are Warning About. There are Alternative Implementation Routes: The World Economic Forum continues promoting “debt-for-nature swaps” that allow countries to restructure debt in exchange for conservation commitments, effectively transferring control of natural resources PERC. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink is pushing “tokenisation” to turn natural assets into tradeable blockchain-based financial products as part of a global carbon market. Larry Fink (CEO Blackrock) is now chairman of the WEF, he replaced Klaus Schwab. The United States Geological Survey identifies “Dartmoor in the east to Isles of Scilly in the west” …as one of the top five lithium-enriched granite areas worldwide. Dartmoor is now a part of The Plymouth and South Devon Freeport. The Dartmoor National Park wasn’t even aware of the fact it was incorporated in the freeport/SEZ zone which is 75km in diameter. What is happening in Dartmoor is being repeated across England, Scotland, and Wales. Zone Fever is eclipsing the UK. The natural asset financialization agenda is global and is being implemented in practice via massive deregulation via free zones, and Brexit Britain is faking Net Zero targets via greenwashing to privatise all critical infrastructure under a corporate political model, which the majority of citizens are excluded from and have zero say in the decision-making process This is happening. This is a corporate coup. Webb exposes how the financial elite are transforming environmental crises into profit engines. At COP26, global bankers and asset managers—led by figures like Mike Bloomberg and Mark Carney—unveiled plans not to solve ecological collapse, but to commodify it. @ZackPolanski @TheGreenParty youtube.com/watch?v=M9xny9Nb…

🇺🇸🧐 Former Miss Switzerland Beatrice Keul has accused Donald Trump of raping her at New York's Plaza Hotel in November 1993. Her allegations are detailed in a new report released by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee investigating Trump's connections to Jeffrey Epstein's sex-trafficking network. The White House categorically denies the accusations. According to the report, Keul was 24 years old when she was invited to participate in a beauty competition organized by people associated with Trump. During a luncheon at the Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at the time, he allegedly approached her and promised assistance obtaining a US visa and admission to New York University. Shortly afterward, Epstein reportedly made similar offers, including an invitation to Mar-a-Lago. Later that day, Keul says she was invited to Trump's hotel suite. Believing the meeting could help her career and education, she agreed. According to her testimony, Trump grabbed her from behind and violently raped her, tearing her dress and leaving her bleeding and bruised. She described the alleged assault as brutal. Keul claims Trump subsequently repeated his promises of assistance and pressured her to remain silent, telling her, “The show must go on.” She returned to Switzerland, declined another Trump-sponsored competition and reportedly rejected further offers from Trump months later. The congressional report alleges that Trump, Epstein and others used beauty competitions involving women and girls aged 16 to 22 as opportunities to approach potential victims. Investigators point to similarities between Keul's account and testimony describing how Epstein used promises of education, modeling careers and financial support to recruit vulnerable young women. Trump has not been criminally charged in connection with Keul's allegations. White House spokesperson Lauren Bis rejected the report, calling the accusations false and politically motivated. She insisted Trump had expelled Epstein from Mar-a-Lago and denied any Epstein-related wrongdoing by the president. The report also revisits allegations made by four other women who accused Trump of rape or sexual assault in accounts connected to the Epstein investigation. Their allegations concern incidents dating from the mid-1980s through the 1990s and had previously appeared in media interviews or FBI records. Trump's history of sexual misconduct allegations includes the case of writer E. Jean Carroll. In May 2023, a federal civil jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in a Manhattan department store during the 1990s and subsequently defaming her. The jury awarded approximately $5 million in damages. Trump denied wrongdoing and challenged the verdict. Another section examines Paolo Zampolli, a longtime Trump associate and former State Department official. According to FBI records cited by the committee, Zampolli arranged visas for young models, including one woman who later alleged that Epstein raped her. Zampolli also faces separate allegations of drugging and raping model Victoria Drake in 2023, which remain contested. The report further challenges Zampolli's claim that he introduced Melania Trump to Donald Trump in 1998. It cites accounts suggesting Epstein arranged their introduction, although these competing claims have not been conclusively established. On October 26, Representative Jamie Raskin called for an independent special counsel to investigate Epstein's alleged accomplices and possible concealment of evidence by the Justice Department. Released shortly before the November elections, the report has intensified scrutiny of Trump's past relationships and allegations of sexual misconduct. Its claims remain disputed and require independent examination. The central question is whether America's justice system can investigate allegations against its most powerful political figures without interference, favoritism or fear.

BREAKING: OBSESSION! Trump derails his own rally to MELT down over President Obama's hilarious Cheesecake Factory joke — proving it got under his skin. This was a heat-seeking missile from Obama... "Who could've guessed the joke would've baited Trump into spending the last week of the election talking more about his White House renovations?" observed Jon Favreau, a former Obama speechwriter. He was replying to a clip from Trump's rally in Mississippi that has since gone viral. "And now they say, 'Oh whoa, whoa, Barack Obama is gonna start campaigning,'" Trump said in a mocking voice. "And he's not even campaigning— Tell him he's not campaigning about me, maybe he'll go home." "But he came in yesterday and he made a speech and part of his speech was to say, isn't it terrible that Donald Trump spends a lot of his time, very little time, I do it very good, I'm really good at real estate and fixing things," Trump continued. "I fix things very good, very beautifully and— I always build beautiful and inexpensive, which is a good combination if you can do." The truth, of course, is that Trump has zero taste and everything he "renovates" ends up looking gaudy, hideous, and cheap, while simultaneously being insanely expensive because of all the graft and sweetheart deals he bakes in. The estimated cost for his unnecessary White House ballroom has skyrocketed to $600 million, up from the $200 million that was originally predicted. "But I can do it naturally, it's a natural thing. It actually relaxes me," said Trump, who spends such little time actually working that he shouldn't have any need for relaxation. He's always relaxing. "'Donald Trump spends a lot of his time fixing up the White House,'" said Trump, in a strange voice. "Isn't that a nice thing to do? The place? No. He said 'this isn't a Cheesecake Factory.'" Can you believe it?" What Obama actually said was that Trump has the White House looking like "Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory," which is by far the best description we've ever heard for Trump's idiosyncratically tacky preferences. "Which is a very successful company," Trump went on. "This isn't— He doesn't like successful companies. But you know, he was very critical about me because I spend time..." Obviously, Obama's point wasn't that there is anything wrong with Cheesecake Factory. His point was that the Oval Office shouldn't look like a place where you can order Roadside Sliders. "And if you would have seen the White House, I took over the White House and it was in horrible condition," whined Trump. "I don't wanna use a terrible word. It was in horrible condition. The plaster was falling off the exterior, you have an exterior coat...The plaster was falling off. The paint was no good. A lot of the beautiful ornamentation that they have around the windows." "I mean they had four or five windows where literally the ornamentation was up on one side and had fallen off or half fallen off on the other," he went on, clearly upset. "And I fixed it. We made a mold of the good one and we put it on the other one. And we got it all beautiful. And then we skim coated with an exterior plaster that's phenomenal. The entire exterior with the best artisans you've ever seen. And we delicately one thing after we took a tile that was broken that was. I mean, I don't wanna say from Home Depot, but it does come from a box. And this is not for the White House." This is what the President of the United States is choosing to devote his energy to with the midterms just one week away and a worsening affordability crisis. Americans are begging for relief from skyrocketing gas prices caused by his disastrous Iran War and Trump is rambling about renovations. Obama really is a master strategist. He lobbed his rhetorical firebomb, then let Trump handle the rest. Please ❤️ and share if you feel the blue wave coming!

🚨 Mikel Arteta on what he told Max Dowman after his sending off: 🎙️ “I asked him, ‘Are you happy with what you’ve just done? Do you realise that you may have just ruined our chances of reaching the next round because of a moment of frustration?’ “There was no need to react that way, especially when you know you’re already on a yellow card. What exactly were you trying to achieve? You have to understand the situation you’re in and think about the consequences of your actions. “What frustrated me the most was that he was the one who ended up suffering the consequences. The other player walked away without a card, while Max was sent off. If you’re going to let your emotions take over, at least understand what you’re putting at risk. You cannot allow yourself to be provoked into doing something that hurts your own team. “But beyond the red card itself, what disappointed me most was the lack of composure. I constantly speak to these young players about humility, discipline and how they should conduct themselves, especially when things aren’t going their way. “Max is a talented boy, and I will continue to support him, but talent alone is not enough at this level. You must learn to control your emotions, respect the game and make better decisions under pressure. “He will learn from this, but he needs to understand that wearing this shirt comes with responsibility. You cannot preach discipline in training and then abandon everything you’ve been taught when you step onto the pitch.”

BREAKING: COWARD ON THE RUN! Trump pal Flávio Bolsonaro has reportedly FLED Brazil for Florida to seek asylum after losing to Lula and dodging a court order to surrender his passport. Like father, like son. Four years after former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro skipped town to Florida after losing an election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, his son appears to have done THE EXACT SAME THING, only this time with a money-laundering investigation hot on his heels. Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil’s presidential election on Sunday, missed a Tuesday-morning deadline to hand his passports to federal police. According to The Guardian, the Brazilian news site Metrópoles reported, citing people close to the family, that he was on a plane to the United States, would land in Florida Tuesday afternoon, and planned to request political asylum. “The Donald Trump administration has been informed,” the site added. CNN Brasil reported he left with his wife and two daughters in the early hours of the morning. Allies told Folha de S.Paulo the escape was “organized and enabled by a lawyer close to the Bolsonaro clan.” The route was reportedly cinematic. Argentine outlets said he crossed into Argentina, possibly on foot, planning to board a private jet in Puerto Iguazú, then ditched the plane once word leaked. Brazilian police say there’s no record of him passing any official border checkpoint, and The Washington Post reports officials still don’t know where he is. His phone returns an out-of-service message. His usually nonstop Instagram has gone silent. Here’s the kicker. On Monday, after his passport was canceled, Bolsonaro posted a video declaring: “I never thought about leaving the country.” Yeah, right. Why the rush? A Supreme Court justice canceled his passport minutes after the results came in, tied to a federal investigation into his possible involvement in a money-laundering scheme worth about $905 million involving betting companies. A family adviser told the Post he was “terrified,” worried he’d be jailed this week. O Globo reported he appeared “possessed” and afraid of arrest in a Monday meeting. His camp calls it political persecution. The family track record isn’t helping. His father is under house arrest after being sentenced to more than 27 years for plotting a coup. His brother Eduardo, sentenced to four years for lobbying Trump to sanction the judges in their father’s case, is already living in Texas, beyond the reach of Brazilian law. He’d said last week that Flávio should leave if he lost. Lula’s Workers’ Party has asked the Supreme Court to order Flávio’s arrest and put him on Interpol’s Red Notice list. The State Department and Homeland Security didn’t immediately respond to questions. So, the Trump administration that deports grandfathers in their pajamas may soon be asked to welcome a fugitive senator dodging a money-laundering probe. Florida is starting to look less like a state and more like a getaway car for Trump’s friends. And we thought Trump’s goal was to deport criminal aliens, not import them. Bolsonaro’s escape to a foreign country provides Americans with a preview of what may happen to the Trump family and the most infamous members of his administration once they are removed from their positions of power. Except the country they’re most likely to flee to is Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Please like and share if you think Flavio Bolsonaro is a criminal coward JUST LIKE TRUMP!

That story about Google killing hundreds of thousands of trees in Finland for its data center project is such a perfect microcosm of what capitalism is doing to our world. Recent mass media headlines are saying the tech giant "illegally" cut down "250,000" trees, but both claims paint an inaccurate picture of what actually happened. Google killed 400,000 trees (250,000 near a town called Muhos and another 150,000 near the village of Otanmäki), and unless the company's executives actually wind up going to prison for this, their actions cannot properly be described as "illegal". I don't know who first coined the saying "If the penalty is a fine, then it's legal for rich people," but it certainly applies here. The Finnish Licensing and Supervision Authority has reportedly ordered Google to suspend all “measures that significantly change the environment," saying it will "consider enforcement proceedings and fines" if the megacorporation does not comply. Google's parent company Alphabet has a net worth of around four trillion dollars. Whatever paltry penalties Finland might impose for these ecocidal actions, it won't have any meaningful effect on Google. Giant corporations do this shit all the time. They calculate that the fines incurred by their abusive actions will be dwarfed by the massive profits they generate, issue fake apologies as needed, and leave it to their armies of lawyers to minimize the damage. That's why the Sackler family is still worth billions despite all the fines Purdue Pharma was slapped with while creating the US opiate epidemic. A 2017 Harvard study titled “The Opioid Epidemic: Fixing a Broken Pharmaceutical Market" contains the following paragraph: "Although civil claims and criminal charges were brought against Purdue and its executives, the resulting penalties paled in comparison to extended-release oxycodone profits. In May 2007, the company and its president, chief counsel, and former chief medical officer pled guilty to falsely marketing extended-release oxycodone as 'less addictive, less subject to abuse and diversion, and less likely to cause tolerance and withdrawal than other pain medications.' As part of the plea bargain, Purdue agreed to pay the federal government $600 million and 27 states $20 million. The three executives agreed to $34.5 million in fines but avoided jailtime. By contrast, Purdue has earned an estimated $31 billion in total revenues from extended-release oxycodone since its launch. Rather than deterring fraudulent marketing, the penalties simply became a cost of doing business." A cost of doing business. That's how things work under capitalism. The law primarily exists not to protect people or the environment, but to protect the interests of capital. If you destroyed a Google data center you'd probably be charged as a terrorist and spend decades in prison, but Google can destroy the natural world around you and get off with a finger wag and a symbolic fine. If you stole millions of dollars from your employer you'd go to prison for grand larceny, but if your employer steals millions from its employees you need to win a class action lawsuit to get back what they stole from you. Proponents of capitalism often pretend they support minimal government intervention in civilian affairs, but their entire model is at all times propped up by state power using force to protect the haves from the have-nots at every level of our society. Corporations are free to destroy the environment, destroy your health, rob you, exploit you, and manipulate your government to their advantage, and if you ever take action to stand up to this world-devouring onslaught, the state will lock you in a cage. In school we are taught that that the law exists to protect ordinary people from bad people, but that's not true at all. Under capitalism, the law exists to protect the very worst among us from everyone else. That's why we are seeing our planet being turned into dust and ashes for no reason other than shareholder profit. It's an insane system, and it needs to end. These freaks are feeding our entire biosphere into the woodchipper.
