Some Marathon players are organizing a community event called Marathon Revival Week, which will take place from July 21 to July 28.
The idea is simple: invite a friend to try the game, help new players get started and leave a review if you’ve enjoyed the game. The community hopes these small actions will help bring more players to Marathon.
The organizers say this isn’t because they think the game is “dead.” They see it as a community-driven effort to grow the player base and give the game a boost.

‼️One small Marathon feature that deserves more appreciation
Quests completed by teammates — whether they’re friends or random squadmates — also grant EXP to the whole team.
Even if the quest was already completed before, it still rewards experience.
It’s a great system that encourages players to replay quests together, help newer teammates progress, and keep squads running missions instead of playing solo.
Really smart design to keep the community playing together.

Sony’s gotta back Marathon for the long term. It’s a genuinely good game, has a unique place in the market, has a core fanbase already doing everything from fan art to cosplay. Rare new (“new”) IP win on those fronts
It’s pretty brutally hard, but that’s part of the reason it stands out. Playerbase is not gonna be mainstream blockbuster level, clearly, but at this point you have to let one of these survive and build in time. Marathon is a good pick for that
