“there are too many versions of myself within me that there’s no place for you to rest too many futile desires in me that there’s no place for you to stay in peace the darkness in me that i can’t brighten steals your resting place the sorrow in me i can’t overcome is like a dense forest of thorn trees whenever the wind blows, those dry branches scrape against each other and cry even the little birds exhausted from flying in search of shelter, get pricked by the thorns then fly away the wind brings loneliness and pain there were many days when we sang sorrowful songs inside me, there are far too many versions of myself” note: these are lyrics to ‘thorn tree’, a korean folk-rock song written by ha deokgyu (band: poet & village chief). the song was later remade in the year 2000 by jo sungmo and it became a huge hit.
