Government Chief Whip Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has directed the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development to present a comprehensive statement to Parliament on the suspension of land registration services across the ministry's zonal offices. The directive followed procedural concerns raised by Bbaale County MP Charles Tebandeke, who questioned why the public and Parliament had not received a formal government statement regarding the ongoing suspension, which he warned is crippling economic activities and real estate transactions nationwide. Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa confirmed that the Minister of Lands will appear on the Order Paper on Thursday to deliver the official statement, instructing ministers to present policy guidelines directly to Parliament rather than issuing external directives without legislative oversight. #UnityAt25 | #UnityfmNews

Police at Lira City Central Police Station (CPS) have opened an investigation into Daniel Okello, the former Speaker for Lira City West Division, over the alleged fraudulent receipt of government livestock restocking funds intended for a person living with disabilities. According to an official letter dated October 17, 2026, issued by ASP Muyeyero Godfrey Fearless, Okello was summoned to report immediately to the police station regarding general inquiry file GEF: 22/2026. The probe follows a formal request by Lira City Town Clerk Tom Miri on October 15, 2026, asking police to investigate how Okello, who is not a resident of Junior Quarters was registered to receive the funds. The victim, 43-year-old Pamela Adero, a person with disabilities residing in Ujama Cell, Junior Quarters Ward, revealed that Junior Quarters Town Agent Tom Calvin Omong claimed her name had been deleted from the system by a computer error. However, official disbursement records indicate that Daniel Okello received the funds on May 11, 2026, under Adero’s initial registry allocation. Adero further stated that after she reported the matter, Okello contacted her and issued threats demanding she abandon the case. #UnityAt25 | #UnityfmNews

StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Blacks Power FC is contemplating moving its home matches to the Bukedea Comprehensive School Complex Stadium in Bukedea District. Reports originally published by Kawowo Sports indicate that the decision follows the National Council of Sports (NCS) banning the club and Kitara FC from using the Hoima Stadium due to non-compliance with national sports infrastructure standards. Blacks Power FC officials noted that the Bukedea venue represents a return to their roots, as the club originally played there under its former identity, Bukedea Town Council FC, prior to rebranding and relocating to Lira. However, Blacks Power FC Public Relations Officer Abel Ogwang clarified that the relocation remains a rumor for now, advising fans to await an official club announcement. #UnityAt25 | #UnityfmNews

He expressed confidence in passing his UCE exams and aspires to study law. His education is currently sponsored by High Court Deputy Registrar George Obong Aweri (Uhuru), who fulfilled a commitment made by his late father, Supreme Court Justice Ruby Aweri Opio, before his passing in December 2022. Lira Town College Headteacher Levy Abongo commended Odio’s exceptional intelligence, urging parents to send children living with disabilities to school without discrimination. Abongo also cautioned parents against passing disturbing domestic news to candidates during the national examination period to preserve their mental concentration.

Critical road maintenance works across Oyam District have been suspended due to a severe fuel shortage affecting heavy machinery. Oyam North MP Patrick Ogwang Obura alerted Parliament that key routes—including Kamdini–Zambia–Minakulu, Minakulu–Anyeke–Loro, Aduku–Teboke–Loro, and Aber–Kidilani have stalled with only 10 kilometers graded since August, crippling local business and transport. State Minister for Works Musa Siraj Ali explained that central government funding delays caused the fuel deficit, but confirmed that funds have now been disbursed to resume work across all routes immediately. #UnityAt25 | #UnityfmNews

State Minister for Disability Affairs Joyce Acan Okeny has ordered Lira District CAO Ismael Ochengel to immediately transfer titles for over 60 hectares of land at Aler to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD). The order follows a boundary verification at Onyakedi Rehabilitation Centre, which exposed attempts by district officials to underreport the land as 30 hectares instead of the 60 hectares granted to PWDs in 1958. Joint resurveys confirmed the land spans 62.8 hectares. Minister Acan also directed police to investigate former DCDO Tom Oguda for alleged harassment of land occupants, while Lira Deputy RDC Beatrice Molly Kia and Assistant RCC Bonny Ferdinand Okello Alele condemned the land grabbing attempt. #UnityfmNews | #UnityAt25
