An awful example of the inhumane treatment of so many of precious human beings in Trump’s ICE mass detention and deportation machine. Memo belongs with his family and community, but he’s been held like this for a year now. He needs proper healthcare and immediate release.

Congratulations @AbdulElSayed! This is a huge victory for progressive, pro-working class politics. And a huge defeat for AIPAC and the oligarchs that spent over $70 million via Super PACs to stop this movement. A win in November will be another huge step toward a new politics.

Although tonight’s outcome is painful for me and all of us who worked so hard in this campaign, I am proud of the grassroots campaign we built so quickly and the voice we gave to thousands of Arizonans who are hungry for a different kind of leadership and an end to a corrupt status quo that has failed us. A growing majority of Democrats support the progressive agenda our campaign fought for. Despite tonight’s setback, we must and will continue to organize to enact it — from Medicare for All to abolishing ICE, impeaching and prosecuting Trump, ending military aid to Israel and our complicity in genocide, and banning Super PACs and corporate political spending. I am so grateful to all of the people who devoted their time, money, labor, and hope to our movement. The trust you put in me is a profound honor and your belief in our capacity as everyday people to come together to overcome great obstacles and change the conditions of our lives is so powerful. I’m sorry we came up short this time. Stay in the fight. There will be better nights to come. I called Greg Stanton earlier to concede and congratulate him on his decisive victory. As I always pledged, I will do my part to make sure that we keep this seat in Democratic hands in November and help win the majority to block Trump’s authoritarian drive. While this is the end of our campaign, the movement we are part of continues. The dream of making our nation a Beloved Community is alive as long as we carry it, and I will always continue serving as best I can in the fight to realize it. Leadership requires showing up.  So I showed up at Greg Stanton's "campaign office" to ask him to finally stand up for justice and join me in denouncing MAGA election interference sponsored by the State of Israel.

As our movement is gaining momentum and surging toward the next big victory in a wave of wins by democratic socialists and progressive champions, opponents of our campaign have dredged up a discredited old hit piece and are circulating it as a means of attacking our campaign. This document’s narrative is false, it’s filled with factual errors, and it was disavowed by its author and taken down. This attack on our movement is not a surprise given our growing support and the public rejection of Greg Stanton’s positions: taking tons of money from corporate PACs and AIPAC, enabling the genocide in Gaza, voting for the Laken Riley Act, opposing abolishing ICE, being silent on an AI data center being built in our district, and choosing United Health Group money over guaranteeing health care through Medicare for All. Our movement of love, truth, and people power is rooted in seeking reconciliation and being accountable to the greatest extent possible. And truth requires standing up against baseless attacks, false narratives, and fear-mongering from the defenders of a corrupt, authoritarian status quo. So much is at stake for our district, our nation, and our entire world. We cannot let the weaponization of this disavowed misinformation impede our campaign. We are fighting to win a new day where a decent life is affordable for all of us, where we are free of authoritarian tyranny and violence, where we end rather than enact or enable war crimes and genocide, and where we restore planetary health for all of life and future generations. For all who so urgently need this change, we will fight harder than ever.
