How big was the early vote for Dems? Cooper in NC, Talarico in TX and Ossoff in GA all had more EARLY votes than their opponents had in total, per @NBCNews decision desk. Put another way, they could have each received zero election day votes and still won.

We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math.
It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training.
We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵
Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math.

#sapsNW [THREE MORE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH VIOLENT VENTERSDORP FARM ROBBERY AND ATTEMPTED MURDER]
The investigation into the violent farm robbery and attempted murder in Syferfontein, Ventersdorp, has resulted in the arrest of three additional suspects, bringing the total to five suspects.
The latest arrests were effected today, 1 November 2026, by the Ventersdorp Detectives, supported by members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit, in Promosa, close to Potchefstroom, following intensive investigative and operational efforts.
During the operation, police seized four firearms, of which two are linked to the Ventersdorp incident, as well as clothing items and jewellery.
The arrests follow an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, during which a 50-year-old farmer was shot and brutally assaulted, with his ears allegedly cut off.
The five suspects, aged between 26 and 56, are expected to appear before the Ventersdorp and Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Courts, respectively, on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, on charges of house robbery, attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

BofA calls Texas "the single most consequential election for [Data Centers], utilities and power this cycle." The next governor inherits a 474 GW interconnection queue, roughly 90% of it data centers and more than five times the all-time system peak.
"Consensus holds that Abbott reverts to a pro data center stance after a win, and that may prove correct on rhetoric, but the audit, the CCN remands, and the legislative docket now carry institutional momentum independent of the governor. Texas remains the clearest secular demand growth story in the sector, but we would carry materially wider volatility margins for potential outcomes than the market currently reflects." - BofA
BofA's economists think "the biggest downside risks centers around data center regulation," and that it will be decided far from Washington: "Under any plausible election outcome, the President should retain the ability to veto legislation he opposes," which leaves "state and local governments, which control zoning, land use, permitting and development agreements" as "the more immediate constraint."

GOLDMAN SACHS: AI COULD TEMPORARILY DISPLACE 9% OF WORKERS
Goldman Sachs estimates that a 15% productivity boost from AI could temporarily displace around 9% of workers during the transition.
Historical research shows every 1% productivity gain from technology raises unemployment by 0.3–0.4 percentage points, with effects typically fading within two years.
Occupations heavily disrupted by technology have historically lost 25% of jobs within five years.
Goldman warns AI-related layoffs could accelerate during economic downturns, amplifying labor-market weakness.
