Wamkele Mene, Secretary-General of the #AfCFTA Secretariat, met H.E. @RitishRamful, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius, at Government House. They discussed advancing #AfCFTA implementation with the particular vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States in mind, including how tariff liberalisation on sensitive products is phased and how domestic industries can stay competitive. The Continental Technical Consultation on its Implementation Roadmap is underway, bringing together Member States, RECs, Development Partners, the Private Sector and Technical Experts to translate those priorities into a costed and actionable roadmap. With nine priority value chains, including maize, rice, fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, cashew and cotton, the focus is on stronger regional value chains, greater investment and more intra-African agricultural trade. The Secretary-General, H.E. @MeneWamkele, received @Dr_Okiti, Founder and Convener of the Africa Business Convention (ABC). Discussions focused on strengthening private-sector participation in #AfCFTA implementation and exploring potential areas of collaboration between the Secretariat and ABC. H.E.
