Look, the last thing I'll say about the Jack Hughes and AJ Mlezcko situation is this. First, I'm not trying to put people down but I'm not sure she's the best available option between the benches on National TV for the NHL and it has nothing to do with gender or the joke that didn't land last night. If Caitlin Jenner was an absolute hockey savant with a plethora of puck knowledge despite having tits being a dude - I'd say giver hell when you're well baby girl- you earned it. But why does gender or color come into play when it gate-keeps real talent? I've never looked at chins in that light. I've never put myself above anyone or any race. It's about selecting the best available option for the job. I think in game rink side / sideline reporters such as Jackie Redmond, Erin Andrews and Amanda Balionis in other sports, men couldn't even think about being as good as these ladies. Russini? You see anyone else sucking information out of NFL head coaches quite like that? And there's plenty more examples. Why not place people where they would find success as the best available suitor vs going full DEI to cater to an audience? Shit is fake and you lower your product as a whole again to cater to a group of people who bark online. As Herman Boone once said in Remember The Titans- I don't care if you're black, white, green, yellow or orange. The best player will play. Color won't matter. And I'm not trying to single out AJ or get her fired especially over this little minor mistake. Who cares. The issue is bigger than her. It speaks to ESPN and other outlets as a whole. It just has me spinning because the truth of the matter is, there's not many of these spot .. let the talent and people do the talking.. Seattle and pronoun town won't like this tweet.
