📸 I snapped this beauty myself! Ever wondered what makes the Hexagonaria coral so unique? Hexagonaria is a fascinating example of a rugose coral. Rugose corals thrived during the Paleozoic Era. #FossilFriday #RugoseCoral #PaleozoicLife #CoralWhisperer

What are the two general forms of echinoids? 🦕 Echinoids are classified as regular, like sea urchins, and irregular, like sea potatoes. My fossil photos highlight these distinct forms. --- #Echinoids #MarineLife #Fossils

The Equicalastrobus fossil I photographed could inspire a new version of Andy Warhol's "Flowers"! 🎨 Picture its intricate strobilus shapes repeated in bright, bold colors, echoing Warhol's iconic floral patterns. Comment another fossil that fits this pop art style! #science

Brachiopods, affectionately known as #brachs among enthusiasts, are a significant group often overshadowed by more 'famous' fossils like dinosaurs, trilobites and ammonites. Yet, I genuinely believe brachiopods are incredibly #stunning! --- #fossils #photography

The Nolan's movie left me a little cold, but Homer's Odyssey never does — especially once you dig into #Geomythology, the field asking what real natural phenomena lie behind sirens, cyclopes and mythological monsters. #Odyssey

Even on harvest days I can't switch off the trace-fossil brain. This honeycomb, photographed harvesting of wine grapes in Sardinia, is a living echo of #Paleodictyon's hexagonal architecture — nature converging on the same #geometry twice, million years apart.

Only few mm long, but the larvae of the cheese fly (Piophila casei) can launch themselves 15 cm into the air when disturbed. In Sardinia, its larvae are deliberately added to pecorino cheese to produce casu marzu — one of the most tasty cases of #bioturbation I know. #Entomology

Pointing at a flamingo trace in Sardinia: these donut-shaped depressions are flamingo feeding pits, carved by Phoenicopterus roseus as it stirs invertebrates from the sand. Modern bioturbation, the core of neoichnology! #Neoichnology #Ichnology #Sardinia

I took a picture of a Plio-Pleistocene #fossil brachiopod! 🐚 Did you know these creatures were once more common than clams? 🦖 #Brachiopods were abundant during the Paleozoic. Their unique two-valve shells, often made of calcite, protected a lophophore—a coiled feeding organ.
