Over 834 people. Countless stories. One shared purpose. What a beautiful reminder of what humanity can achieve when people come together.. Behind every number is a life, a family, a struggle, and a story worth listening to. To our medical teams, pharmacies, suppliers, Nakaseke District Local Government, volunteers, partners, and every generous heart that stood with us, thank you for bringing more than healthcare to our communities. You brought dignity, compassion, and hope. The medical camp may come to an end, but the kindness you have shown will live on in the hearts of the people of Nakaseke. Because sometimes, the greatest medicine we can offer is simply reminding someone that they matter. Read our heartfelt message of appreciation: accessuganda.com/2026/10/24/…

Look Who Is With Us on Day Two of Our Medical Camp...... The Professor. The Founder. The Researcher. The Clinician. But above all, a proud son of Nakaseke who has never forgotten where his story began. There is something truly beautiful about watching someone who has travelled the world, walked through some of the finest institutions, and achieved so much in medicine return home to serve the very people and community that shaped his childhood. For us, this is more than just another day at the medical camp. It is a special moment. Here is a man whose journey began in the humble villages of Nakaseke, a man who understands the struggles of our people because he has lived through some of them himself. Life has taken him far, education has opened many doors, and his work has touched lives beyond Uganda. Yet, through it all, Nakaseke has remained close to his heart. And today, he is right here among his people. Not just as a professor or a celebrated medical professional, but as one of their own, listening to their stories, attending to their health needs, sharing smiles, and offering the kind of care that comes straight from the heart. You can imagine what this means to the people of Nakaseke. The joy of seeing their own son return, not simply to visit, but to serve. The happiness of knowing that someone who has achieved so much still finds time to sit with them, listen to them, and care for them. Professor @rkalyes1 , you remind us that the greatest achievement in life is not simply how far we go, but how many people we lift along the way. And perhaps the most beautiful part of your story is the message it gives to every young child growing up in Nakaseke: that greatness can begin in a small village, that difficult beginnings do not have to define one's future, and that success becomes even more meaningful when we use it to change the lives of others. Today, the people of Nakaseke are happy to have you among them. And we at ACCESS are even happier to share this beautiful moment with you. Once a child of Nakaseke, always a child of Nakaseke. No matter how far the journey takes you, home will always be home. Welcome home, Professor. Your people are proud of you. @AKasingye @GabrielBuule @SpireJim @NutritionistKD @DrOtileUg

Sometimes impact is not measured in millions. Sometimes it is the woman who finally gets examined. The child who receives treatment. The patient who discovers an illness early enough to act. The family that returns home with hope instead of fear. This October, come to Nakaseke. Stand with our people. Give your time. Give your skills. Give what you can. Because when someone is hurting, your presence can be medicine too. ACCESS Medical Camp | 22nd & 23rd October 2026

Today, the African Community Centre for Social Sustainability (ACCESS) held a meaningful and inspiring engagement with local government leaders, ranging from LC1 and LC3 chairpersons to mayors and council representatives from the different sub-counties where ACCESS operates in Nakaseke District. The engagement provided an important platform for open dialogue, reflection, and collective action on how ACCESS can continue improving its services across its four key areas: healthcare, education, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment. Throughout the discussion, local leaders expressed their appreciation for the work ACCESS continues to do in transforming lives, supporting vulnerable families, improving access to essential services, and creating opportunities for communities to become more self-reliant. However, beyond the appreciation came an important reminder of the challenges our communities continue to face. One of the most touching moments was when local leaders appealed to ACCESS to consider restoring some of the essential healthcare services that had been interrupted due to funding cuts. Their voices reflected the realities of families who depend on accessible and affordable healthcare, especially those living in vulnerable and underserved communities. This conversation reminded us that behind every service we provide is a human story: a mother seeking medical attention for her child, a young person dreaming of completing their education, a farmer struggling with the effects of climate change, or a family working tirelessly to build a sustainable livelihood. While funding challenges remain a reality, today's engagement was not simply about what has been lost. It was about what we can rebuild together. Our discussions explored how stronger collaboration between ACCESS, local government structures, community leaders, and other stakeholders can help identify local solutions, strengthen community ownership, mobilize resources, and ensure that our interventions respond to the most pressing needs of the people we serve. We believe that sustainable development cannot be achieved by one organization working alone. It requires listening to communities, respecting local leadership, sharing responsibilities, and building partnerships rooted in trust and a common purpose. For ACCESS, this engagement reaffirmed something fundamental: communities should not merely be beneficiaries of development; they must be active participants in shaping their own future. As we move forward, we remain committed to strengthening our partnerships and exploring practical ways to sustain and improve our programs, even in the face of limited resources. Because the true measure of our work is not simply the number of programs we implement, but the lives we touch, the hope we restore, and the communities we empower to stand stronger tomorrow. At ACCESS, we believe lasting change begins when we listen, grows when we collaborate, and becomes sustainable when communities take ownership. @rkalyes1 @SemitalaFred @MoLGUganda @Internist_02
