Today at the DCLDE we had our first, last and only in person meeting for the @ACCURATEProject It has been a pleasure to work with a bunch of colleagues and friends on learning more about what we know and what we don't know about acoustic cue production rates in marine mammals
New #scicomm video on PAM DE. After the DE process itself, cue rates and detectability, this is about the 4th multiplier, false positives. Another great production led by @MariaSZacarias under the auspices of LMR. Please watch and share. Feedback welcome! youtube.com/watch?v=iMgls1yZ…
The @ACCURATEProject just presented yesterday at the LMR IPR meeting the latest developments regarding cue rates to inform passive acoustic monitoring density estimation. Next year it will be our final year and so we will be working extra hard this year to come in strong!
This weekend the @ACCURATEProject project was represented at the Explorathon 2023 at the @DundeeSciCentre Communicating our science to the wider public is something we quite enjoy doing ! Thanks to @PopiGk for carrying the flag!
On the aftermath of @EuroCetSoc conference we have 200+ followers 🥳Help us spread the word! If you have relevant info about marine mammal cue rates tag us. Follow to learn more about why cue rates are fundamental. Here's our 2022 video on their importance youtube.com/watch?v=iOX2Y18W…
In under two weeks we had 2 talks on @ACCURATEProject, 1 at SOI @univofstandrews and 1 @EuroCetSoc #ECSconference2023 Great to have discussions about cue rates, what drives them, how to estimate them and when and how migh cue rates be used to inform PAM density estimation.
We are very happy to share our newest video on passive accoustic density estimation, this time focussing on detectability. Show your kids, give us feedback. The star is a biologist named Danielle: youtube.com/watch?v=ITKlA7Lw… video by @MariaSZacarias perhaps inspired by @dvharris1
Last week @TiagoALOMarques and Ana Širović were in Faial, at a workshop for the OCEAN project ocean-navigation-awareness.e… organized by @IMRuiPrieto on the problem of whale ship-strikes. Learned lots. Looking forward to see how PAM can help to find solutions to a difficult problem!
TB to the social event at the last LMR IPR. What a great fun night it was, living proof that great sceince can (should?) be mixed with great fun. I suspect the black gloves are actually quite disturbing for the unaware...
