The perfectionist. Frenkie de Jong’s game is predominantly based on intelligence— that doesn’t mean he’s not physically inclined. It’s a no-brainer that intelligence supersedes physicality. One of the best elements among elite midfielders is awareness. Frenkie’s awareness allows him to discriminate between how to adapt in game states with and without his co-midfield partner (Pedri). It’s easy to notice how frequent Frenkie looks subpar sometimes without Pedri. Is that normal? Yes. It’s the same with Vitinha without his other co-midfield partner (Joao Neves). It’s also the same with Tchouameni without a proper #8. Frenkie, when paired with Garcia in midfield, intuitively becomes aware he’s paired with a makeshift midfielder. During these moments, he ceases to take further risks to help Garcia escape difficult pressure situations. Frenkie has morphed into a perfectionist. There are countless moments where Frenkie ignores running triggers, turns and releases the ball by playing it safe. Yes he absorbs pressure to help his teammates, but does he absorb it to create danger? That barely happens. Every ball is always a calculated effort. Deliver the perfect short and long passes. Opting for perfection in most cases earns you nothing but few safe passing completions. Less risks = less damage. Pedri knows that and doesn’t mind the end results of losing the ball when creating danger.

The thing about players who switched clubs before and after Pep’s departure (Gundo and Rodri) perceive to themselves to have better philosophical knowledge about the sport than their current managers and teammates. Mentality monster gimmick instead of succumbing to the ideas of

The worst thing about modern social media times when it comes to teenage stars like Lamine is that every single thing he does is being microanalysed and sensationalised. He is teenager, he will make a mistake here and there on and off the pitch and he will learn from it. Allow him time to grow up.

I’m more worried about our current form. We’ve lost two big games so far and our conditions regarding the backline is very concerning. All our defenders atm are without backups. I hope this won’t have any negative impact on our season.

Lamine fully disguised his intentions here. Pacho and Stefanov didn’t expect him to shot from here btw. Lamine had a bad game last night, yet he never lost concentration. Kept going till the match ended. This is the type of mentality I yearn for Gordon. Instigate a reaction
Even on his worst day he still pulled out a banger

Harry Kane won it. Well deserved, but it was already decided when they gave Lamine the young best player award

I’m guessing we made it into the top 10 at least if we didn’t make it in the top 30.

Martin gets too much stick. Cubarsi’s ass got covered by the former as well. Can’t hold it against them as much as Cancelo. Cancelo’s defending is too pathetic for an experienced player. Can’t believe he left Mbappe unmarked just to cut out Cama’s pass. Unreliable in big games

Never seen a more horrible take. I hate that we lost, but saying this because we lost against Madrid when most of our players turned out to pussies instead is such a low bar comment. He won a f*cking sextuple that year. Perhaps you can’t comprehend it magnitude.
Je pense que le Final 8 sous Covid lui a donné la carrière qu’il devait jamais avoir

Joan García should also be held responsible here. He completely abandoned the net when Cama had no chance of scoring against him from that angle. Cancelo’s awareness btw is atrocious. He also abandoned Mbappe thinking he could’ve cut out the pass. Fans make lots of silly

excuses for Cancelo regarding his defending. He’s not just bad defensively, but rather very lazy. Starting him in big games when everyone is fit is a choice.

Its normal to expect from players to improve and learn based on experience but we should be demanding the same from the coaches. What has Flick learned in the past 3 years?

Fans frowned upon the match against PSG, and used their injuries as an excuse for our loss and even called the match meaningless. Cyclical dynamics just hit us (as @nueverole likes to call it) perhaps for a short term. Bad momentum after another on two big occasions is truly

ourselves a dominant team. Again, people frown upon self sufficiency because it turns out that we always need it from the other attackers (Gordon specifically). So many moments where his markers felt comfortable because he didn’t provoke enough reaction from them.

Most of the blame will be centered on our backline which is our most obvious loophole, but we had numerous opportunities to hurt Madrid. Losing 3 points in both the UCL and league can be troublesome especially when we’re dealing with injuries.

Gordon pisses me off sometimes. Second game and his makers are dozing off. He’s not driving the ball at his marker to even provoke a reaction. Instigate Instigate Instigate!
