I trusted that if the FDA approved a drug, it had to be safe.
FDA-approved does not mean safe.

God's grace is sufficient, even when you're weak. You don't have to pretend to be strong all the time

Scientists put more than 60 baby monkeys on Prozac. Some changes were still there long after the drug was stopped.
We can't ethically randomize children to SSRIs. But researchers at UC Davis and the NIH did it with young monkeys, at doses matched to what kids get.
The monkeys started at about 1 year old (roughly age 4 to 6 for a human), took Prozac for about 2 years, and were followed for up to 18 months after.
What they found:
1. Sleep. More night waking, more fragmented sleep, less deep sleep. It persisted after stopping.
2. Social behavior. One study saw less dominance and more submissive behavior, during and after.
3. Attention. More errors on sustained-attention tasks, and it persisted. It makes me wonder how many kids on SSRIs later get labeled with ADHD.
4. Emotion. About 40 to 45% fewer emotional reactions. In my experience feelings usually come rushing back after people come off.
5. Brain. PET scans showed lasting changes in the serotonin system into young adulthood.
Monkeys aren't kids. But they're the closest thing we have.
Pregnant, or considering an SSRI for a child under 18? Treat it as a very serious decision. Don't let anyone rush you. Try non-drug options first. And if your child is already on one, never stop it suddenly. Taper slowly with their doctor.

This proves Gavin Newsome has no principles and will sell himself to the highest bidder to get more powerful. A true Machiavellian.
Perhaps, Mr Schmuck, try and raise the possibility in your head that some of these people might know more than you imagine. Patients who have been harmed by 'treatment' often know a lot more about it than their prescribers. A little dose of humility might be beneficial for you.

Thank you for articulating and acknowledging these eternal truths. If only modern psychiatry would do so--but our bullshit is so damn profitable!!!

Major Depressive Disorder as a disease is a recent invention. The suffering it claims to describe is ancient. However, you cannot prescribe a pill for a broken relationship, for the loss of a job or a dream, for the death of a person you loved...

The 400 Year Old Monastery of Bernaga has just been burned to ashes & now lies in ruins.
Thankfully all the Nuns escaped the blaze.
All these fires can’t simply be by accident - they keep on happening almost daily.
Two sisters singing the same song, year by year since 2012… It just made me smile the whole video and then everything started getting blurry 😭😭

That's a question a lot of people ask, and I'd answer it this way. The line isn't really between insecurity and narcissism, because you can't see inside anyone to draw it. What you can see is the function of the behaviour and what happens when it's named.
Insecurity usually looks for reassurance and tends to soften when someone says, 'that landed badly.' The put-downs stop, or at least they get less frequent and more apologetic. Someone who puts others down to feel bigger usually keeps going, reframes it as a joke, or makes the person who objected the problem.
And your friend's reaction is worth noticing. Your best friend said it directly, and that's a good test. How she responded to his honesty tells you more than any label would. Did it stop, or did the teasing move somewhere else?
I'm glad he saw it and said something. Being put down in public by someone you trust is confusing, and it's easy to miss when you're the one being teased. You're not naive for not catching it. These things are built to look like jokes.

That’s exactly what happened to me. Stupid doctors didn’t even ask themselves why my periods might have stopped at 18 as a stressed college freshman. Just put me on the pill. I haven’t been the same since.

#BREAKING: Japanese Minister Hosono issues emergency request urging citizens to stockpile food and water.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Hosono announced he will issue the "emergency request" on Nov. 2 with the new Disaster Prevention Agency launch. It urges standard stockpiles of 3+ days food/water/toilets for known quake risks like Nankai Trough, not any imminent threat.

Birth control is one of the most common gateway drugs into psychiatry for young women.
I see the pattern over and over. She starts the pill or an IUD. Months later she's anxious, irritable or depressed. Nobody connects the dots, so she gets a diagnosis and a psych med while the hormones keep destabilizing her mood.
A Danish study followed over 1 million women. Every hormonal method raised the risk of ending up on an antidepressant, and for teens on the hormonal IUD that risk more than doubled.

Nice. Great conversational skills from the ivory tower.
Ps. What is real experience?
Observation and education according to those making the money from your Rx/Tx?
Or living it?
Because it appears there’s only room in medicine for the indoctrinated cough sorry educated.
