The AFL could solve all clash problems with one simple clause: Each club must have an alternative guernsey which could be worn in a match against its own home guernsey.

Carlton likely to finally wear their white clash guernsey against Richmond tonight. The AFL at last realising navy clashes with black, even for Big Melbourne clubs.

AFL football operations has no foresight and does not care about the fans’ viewing experience.

"VFL can't afford clash guernseys". Most under 8 teams now have clash guernseys. teapawt.net/FootyonNine/status/204…
Greg Swann claimed umpiring is as good as it's been, but after this staggering free kick in the VFL, Hirdy isn't sure... 😳 #9FootyClassified | Watch on 9 & 9Now 🖥️

it's taken many years but Essendon's clash now kind of works. Should be worn more and even given a try with red shorts.

Hopefully @Richmond_FC has a clash guernsey in time for Rd 1 v Carlton. @AFL_House

This is reminiscent of some clubs unwilling to wear contrasting guernseys against old foes in modern times. teapawt.net/JosephNWalker/status/1…
Two years before WWI, with battles no longer fought at close range where visibility was moot, the French war minister Adolphe Messimy tried to update the army’s uniform from blue coats and red trousers to something less conspicuous like gray-blue or gray-green, but was vetoed because to banish the colourful “is to go contrary both to French taste and military function.” This stubborn attachment, he later wrote, “was to have cruel consequences.”

Orange versus gold in a twilight final. AFL knows no bounds when it comes to incompetence.

Carlton & Essendon's dark guernseys don't clash according to @AFL_House but it's now probably because both clubs are so inconsequential.

Still laughable.
.@AFL_House don't make Carlton & Essendon wear a clash vs each other as they're Big Melb4 clubs but Carlton wear a one-off guernsey anyway.

It is just such a chore to watch Collingwood v Carlton (away) matches. Constantly trying to work out which team the ball has been kicked to advantage, is that second player a team mate or a potential tackler. Should he kick to the free player in the 50...no that's the opposition.
.@AFL_House say black & navy clash except when Collingwood plays Carlton because they are Big Melbourne clubs ♻️

Richmond & Carlton dark guernseys visually clash but @AFL_House doesn't insist on a clash guernsey because they're both Big Melbourne clubs.

Earlier in the year Sydney wore their clash against Brisbane. But a grand final is too important for @AFL_House to wear a clash guernsey and make it a better viewing spectacle.

It would be good if the AFL made this grand final guernsey rule public by publishing the clash policy somewhere publicly accessible. Otherwise, we might just think the AFL backfills the rules each grand final to suit their preferred outcome. 😴 🚗@AFL_PKeane
Replying to @Josh__Barnes
Home team (which in this case is the team who finished highest) gets to choose from their Dark and Light uniforms.

Football operations is simply not a priority for AFL football operations department.
No one within AFL Football Operations has the focus on the actual football to fix this ongoing clash. Maybe this broadcaster will finally demand clear contrasting spectacles for their viewers.
