These wood ducks on campus have a very large family - I counted more than 21 ducklings!

Up in QLD and saw red imported fire ants for the first time! An amazing species but very much unwanted in Australia. Everyone in NSW needs to remain vigilant for new incursions - we can all play a role in biosecurity 🔥🐜

So I think it was perhaps a really decomposed mushroom as I found maggots inside a more intact one next to it. So I've scooped up this blob of maggots and am now rearing them in the lab so I can figure out what species it is🪰

My colleague has a curious fly collected some years ago in Canberra and cannot seem to key it out. Any Dipterists out there have any ideas? @BrytheFlyGuy
