I've run through the 5A Region 5 tiebreaker using last year's AHSAA interpretation of the rules. It should play out like this:
There is currently a 4-team tie between Minor, Mortimer Jordan, Gardendale and Jasper:
Huffman is eliminated and set in sixth place. Minor, Gardendale and Jasper all defeated Huffman. Mortimer Jordan did not. Therefore, according to Tiebreaker H, we pull out Minor, Gardendale and Jasper and start again. Minor beat Jasper AND Gardendale, so Minor is be the 2-seed. 7-seed Cullman did beat Minor, but we didn't get that far for it to matter in terms of this tiebreaker.
Now there is a three-way tie for third between Gardendale, Jasper and Mortimer Jordan. These teams all went 1-1 against each other, so we will need to go to Tiebreaker L and non-region games. Currently that stands: Mortimer Jordan 8, Jasper 4, Gardendale 1. These numbers can change, but Gardendale can't catch up to win this tiebreaker. Jasper beat Mortimer Jordan head-to-head, so if they beat Hartselle, they can get in as long as Mortimer Jordan doesn't beat Northridge. That would make the count 8-8 and Jasper wins a tie with their H2H victory.
So if Jasper wins that tiebreaker, they are third, then Mortimer Jordan is fourth with their head-to-head win over Gardendale.
If Mortimer Jordan wins that tiebreaker, they are third, then Gardendale is fourth with their head-to-head win over Jasper.
TL;DR - Jasper has to beat Hartselle AND Mortimer Jordan has to lose to Northridge this coming week for Jasper to be in. Otherwise MJ is third, Gardendale is fourth. Gardendale needs to cheer for Mortimer Jordan this week, which I know is hard.

While that is how the 4-way tie was broken last year, that is not how it was broken in the past before that. But that is the precedent we have to go on, so that is how I interpret it finishing...I think.
Private class brackets are (unofficially) set! No crazy tiebreakers, so all first round opponents should be known.

1A isn't completely set yet, but almost. There is a 3-way tie in Region 2 that Florala should win regardless for the final spot. Then there is a 3-way tie for fourth in Region 8 that Cedar Bluff currently leads, but hasn't clinched yet.

A couple of 3-way ties to note in Class 2A. In Region 1, Clarke County can't be caught in a non-region tiebreaker, so they should have third locked up, with JU Blacksher in fourth. Then Region 7 is still up in the air for the top 3 spots, although Lexington is a heavy favorite to win that.

Class 3A is almost done! Region 1 has a postponed region game this week that will decide the top three spots. The only 3-way tie is in Region 2, but Pike County can't be caught, so that region should be locked in.

Class 4A is almost set! There are a couple of tiebreakers to note: Region 5 has a 3-way tie broken on Tiebreaker D, and Region 8 has a 3-way tie that Scottsboro is in good shape for, but the top 3 can still change with a Cherokee County loss to Fairview.

5A is mostly set except Region 5 which has a four-way tie and will likely need to wait on next week's results to break. Region 3 has a 3-way tie, but McAdory can't be caught in the non-region tiebreakers, so we have that region locked in.

Class 6A playoffs are mostly set! Carver/Enterprise have to play this coming week to determine the rest of Region 2, but the rest of the bracket should be set!

Had a couple of regions that saved wrong so those are updated, if anyone sees any other errors, let me know!
Check out the bracketology after last night's games!

ALL brackets are updated after this week's results. Not every spot is locked up, but the majority are. These are unofficial until the AHSAA gives us everything next Saturday. I tried to break most ties, but hopefully this helps answer some questions!

Pelham now locked in, as is Ramsay. Mountain Brook not mathematically out but only way they get in now is Helena loss AND Ramsay win which would make it:
1. Homewood (6-1)
2. Pelham (5-2)
3. Ramsay (5-2)
4. Mtn Brook (4-3)
5. Helena (4-3)
If Ramsay lost to Homewood along with Helena losing, it goes to non-region tiebreakers which Helena would win, and then Ramsay would be fourth.
A Helena win tomorrow makes them second regardless of Ramsay due to beating Pelham and Ramsay both. Pelham would be third and Ramsay fourth regardless if that happens.
🏈 Final: @ThePelhamWayFB 25, Mountain Brook 21.
Pelham picks up the goal line stop and gets a big boost to its playoff chances! The Panthers got taken to the limit but Marcus Arnold came up huge before the defense got its biggest play of the night. What a game!
I was right, and of course the AHSAA just silently updated their tiebreakers in the sports book. Take note if you've been trying to figure out scenarios...
Something I noticed when looking at the tiebreakers in the AHSAA sports book, I think there is an error.
In the picture, you'll see Tiebreaker M's verbiage is the same as the second part of all other tiebreakers. The specifics over Tiebreaker L (the most widely used non-region tiebreaker in a 3+ team tie) were updated late to show how private schools are applied to this tiebreaker, and I think they accidentally made the "if two teams tie for the highest winning percentage" part it's own tiebreaker instead of just tacking it on at the end of L.
I'd be glad for the AHSAA or someone else to correct me, but I believe the next tiebreaker should be what is N (which should be M and everything else shifted up). This has already come up in one scenario.

Thompson has announced they will not play a Week 10 game due to Choctawhatchee still experiencing effects from the hurricane last weekend.
As it relates to the playoffs, it now makes a potential 3-way tie for first very interesting if Vestavia defeats Prattville. Thompson/Vestavia will only have two non-region wins (while Prattville could have 3), but the quality of all of those wins varies to ultimately potentially equal very similar numbers based on the AHSAA tiebreakers. We've got it broken down here: rankings.alpreps.com/bracket…
5A is done. I'll get to the other classifications throughout the weekend.
6 region titles are clinched before the final week of region play. Teams in red are locked into that seed.

We are working our way through bracketology this weekend, but 6A is done. Last night's results has set up some interesting paths. We could have:
- Thompson's first playoff game be against Hoover, Prattville's first against Hewitt-Trussville
- Spain Park play James Clemens twice in 3 weeks (and three straight games against Region 4)
- Central and Auburn could match-up against their opponents from yesterday as their first playoff games (which they won a combined 108-14)
- Central/Vestavia in quarters then Central/Thompson rematch in semis
- Prattville/Thompson rematch is the favorite for the state championship....in Mobile.
We'll see how it plays out!
