A stranger gave me this note in a packed train. She then hurried away. A rather unusual way to be appreciated..... privileged to be part of the NHS.
This is so important as many CYP esp with complex medical needs are now surviving to adulthood.

Ah… should be @TheAPPMuk. The “The” is important! Also 23 is not the same as 2023….. amateur tweeter.
It was a great session with @BSPGHAN and @APPMuk. Proud to be a surgical paediatrician and a fellow of the college.

It was wonderful to see so many people at the @TheAPPMuk & @BSPGHAN #RCPCH23 session yesterday presenting work to improve care for #CYP with #LifeLimiting & #LifeThreatening conditions
We had a great meeting today to share experiences on surgical enteral feeding with SLTs, nurses, care workers, dietitians, doctors and parents.

"Best practice" doesn't work in most change situations in health & care. Best practice works in simple, stable scenarios but we are mostly working in complex systems. This means that yes, we can learn from the practices of others, but we have to:
1) Bring in a diversity of perspectives and experiences
2) Test out new practices experimentally
3) Create learning loops
4) Push authority down to the people who need to act on the information ("disintermediation") medium.com/topology-insight/… By @jbriselli Graphic adapted from @TheCynefinCo

If we look at the most effective networks & communities of practice, we see they need time & leadership to develop & mature. They are built on strong foundations of connection, which creates the conditions for sharing to happen. They go through these early stages before they reach a level of maturity that enables them to really make a difference in the world. The health & fitness of a network or CoP needs to be nurtured & grown. @BeckyMalby @DrNaeemAhmed. Inspired by @simongterry

Just received the printed copy which I enjoy reading. From an ergonomic perspective, following the link on paper is rather challenging 😅

This IHI white paper offers clarity and direction to health care organizations that strive to implement a “system of #safety,” not just a collection of stand-alone safety improvement projects. #PtSafety
