Mostly financial shitposting. But space and politics are also cool. Heckling the Pentagon until they officially create a Drone Force.

Imagine how few generations ago this sort of trip would be legendary.
🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴 This is the kind of rare event you’d hang a picture of on the wall. The West Texas oil shipment was not only unusual—it took two months of travel. West Texas to south east Australia! Do not be fooled by the shape of he maps. This is three times the distance from Houston to Europe! Map from @Kpler

LONG BORON AND HELICOPTERS NO TIME TO EXPLAIN
Breaking: the FAA has shut down airspace over the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site, with a notice calling it a “US Government Nuclear Incident.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The FAA NOTAM used standard terminology for a temporary restriction during a nuclear site incident; official updates confirm a contained lab fire was extinguished with no detectable off-site contamination and the Site Area Emergency was terminated. public.srs.gov/2026/10/savann… cnn.com/2026/10/28/us/…

UPDATE: There’s no clean national census of nurses and doctors using fake degrees, but we have spent two months investigating this, and the documented cases cluster into two very different magnitudes. Nurses: roughly 7,600 fraudulent diplomas and transcripts, with about 2,274 people confirmed to have used them to sit and pass the NCLEX, then get licensed and hired. That’s a rock-solid number. Physicians: upwards of 10,000 people in hospitals and private practice hold fraudulent foreign medical degrees.
We have identified 11 nurses and 5 physicians in five Southern California hospitals who may have counterfeit degrees from India, including a current emergency medicine trauma surgeon.

Traders often increase their size far more than they comfortably can do so, mistrade, and as a result, take one step forward and two back. Increase your size so gradually that it doesn’t impact your psychology. Take a quarter step forward which adds up when done consistently.

I got a certificate of appreciation for being a smartass once. I was on active duty at the old Walter Reed, and we had a training standdown- so the OR’s were closed, but naturally, we kept the recovery room fully staffed with absolutely nothing to do. One of the reps for the sanitary wipes for equipment came in and handed me two types of wipes and said to “try these, and let us know which one you like better’ - something about the government having to give different vendors a chance. So me being bored as hell and in the good old days before cell phones, I took two stretchers and put them in front of the nurses station. I wiped them both down with the different sanitary wipes, I timed how long it took to dry, noted on the streaks, the smell, the feel of it on my hands, the packaging, how easy it was to grab the box – everything. I then wrote up a three page comparison giving the pros and cons of each, before finally giving a recommendation for one of the products. I turned it into my supervisor, who promptly forwarded to my section head, who forwarded it to the division chief, who sent it to the chief nurse of Walter Reed Army medical (a full bird, who eventually retired as a general officer) who apparently loved it. The hospital admin then took it to the vendor, and the vendor was so pleased that I ended up getting a certificate of appreciation from WRAMC for my contributions to “the government acquisitions process’. Not bad for a bored lieutenant in the recovery room on a Saturday.
What's the dumbest thing you received an award for?

Not to be too judgmental about "kids these days", but... do they really need another downer?
NEW: I spent a night out at one of America's top party schools to see how ketamine has taken hold on college campuses. The drug jumped into the spotlight in the “Cornell 7” case, where Jane Doe told investigators that ketamine left her incapacitated and unable to fend off sexual assault. At Tulane, students pass it around in plastic baggies at fraternity houses, mix it with cocaine to create “Calvin Klein,” and call the psychedelic effects “going horse mode,” a nod to the drug’s use as a horse tranquilizer.

Finished the audiobook of the things they carried. It leaves me reflecting on some sense of comraderie I have with everyone trying to make it through the fucked up problems we have. And optimistic that eventually, it'll be behind us, after some tragedy and effort.
Man, I just can't get into dungeon crawler carl. Nothing about the story is compelling to me. Stupid fourth wing is more compelling. I'm gonna read the things they carried instead. I'll be less mad reading it.

I love the "Trump's Final Warning" saga almost as much as "Ceasefire talks going well!"
BREAKING: US issues final warning to Iran, telling Tehran it can avoid a strike only by handing its highly enriched uranium over to the United States, ending all attacks and military operations across the region, and opening the Strait of Hormuz, per Channel 12. Iran rejected the proposals, which were delivered by Qatari mediators today. "The only thing we received is a list of unacceptable ideas. We will not compromise on the nuclear issue," a senior Iranian official told Reuters. Iran said last week that not a single particle of enriched nuclear material would leave Iran. It comes as the US and Israel are readying to launch heavy joint combat operations against Iran right after the midterm elections.

*sigh* No, Javier, those tankers aren't outside Houthi missile range either.
Saudi Arabia is loading right now 9 supertankers (that's ~18 million barrels) in the Persian Gulf (Ras Tanura and Juaymah), per @CopernicusEU Sentinel 2 satellite imagery. Riyadh is going all-out to push barrels out.

The Top 10% of earners are why you have a job, a house to live in, a car to drive, a supercomputer in your pocket and every other service and product you enjoy. The bottom 10% are why you have locks on your doors and taxes are so high. That’s reality.

MBA intern just pitched my PM on lasers. It wasn't an investment pitch, he just kept talking about how cool lasers are. PM ordered $75k of lasers ("not sure if blue or green is cooler") and passed thru the expense to LPs.

I had 3 separate uncles get cancer and aggressive illnesses bc of blue collar work. Dad can barely move some mornings and paid an enormous physical price to do it as long as he did. His dad died from it too. Blue collar work is a downgrade bc of the physicality it requires & the limited amount of time u actually physically can do the work before the high probability u end up sick, injured, or dead & that's even if you are working around really smart men who care about ur well-being. So 🖕🖕 this isn't "a woman thought" these are my father's own words so the next time you want to use something I say for gender/culture war nonsense I was actually sympathizing with this, I know exactly why younger men don't wanna take it for very long bc it's a raw deal, and lying to them about these realities is a shitty thing to do.
Women think anything blue collar is a “downgrade”
