Today, the First Lady and I join the world in commemorating International Women’s Day. On this day, we honour and celebrate the excellence of women everywhere.
We also celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and brilliance of women across Malawi and the world.
Women are the heartbeat of our nation. The farmers, the teachers, the nurses and community healthcare workers, and all women who drive our progress. Today, we don't just celebrate how far we have come to empowering women; we recommit ourselves to ensuring every girl in Malawi has the opportunity to achieve their dreams and lead without barriers.
To the women in the country: your contribution is immeasurable, and your success is our priority. Happy International Women’s Day!

Today, I received Letters of Credence from His Excellency Mr. NAITO Yasushi, Ambassador of Japan to Malawi. The moment reaffirmed the strong friendship and cooperation between Malawi and Japan, which has grown over the years.
I congratulated Ambassador Naito on his appointment and assured him of my Government’s full support. Our discussions focused on strengthening bilateral ties, promoting trade and investment, and advancing cooperation in disaster management, resilient infrastructure, agriculture, education, and health.
I wish Ambassador Naito every success in his mission and look forward to further deepening Malawi–Japan relations for the prosperity of our peoples.
May God bless our nation.

Today, I presided over the swearing-in of newly appointed Deputy Ministers. I appointed them because I trust their capabilities, passion and commitment to serve for the betterment of our country.
As they discharge their duties, they must observe the rule of law and avoid corruption. Corruption is evil and will not be tolerated, there will be no sacred cows.
Once again, congratulations. Go and serve with honour, integrity and distinction.
