It was great to speak to @SkyNews about the effect the Pingdemic is having on weddings this morning

15 people.
Fifteen.
For a wedding with just a ceremony and seated meal (x6 or households).
As retail is flooded with shoppers.
As beer gardens fill up.
As 1000’s can attend outdoor events like theme parks
With lowest deaths/cases of Covid since Sep 2020.

Could not feel happier seeing hairdressers in full swing at 7:30am and people sitting outside having breakfast, even if it’s snowing. Today is going to be a good day. #lockdownislifting

But not for a wedding with just 15 people on your private land with staff and professionals who specialise in marquee events.

Two and a half weeks since the roadmap announcement. Two and a half weeks with couples and businesses trying to plan without any guidance or detail. Two and a half weeks of silence from those supposedly looking after us. Two and a half weeks. Just. Not. Good. Enough.

The #WeddingsTaskforce Spokesperson Sarah Haywood has today asked Minister @scullyp to urgently intervene and ensure the publication of the Weddings Guidance from his department @beisgovuk at @GOVUK. It unacceptable that couples and businesses have to keep waiting

Businesses are reporting more losses this week than during the entire pandemic in the wedding industry. Not only 2020 dates being postponed again, but original 2021 dates moving too. That’s the reality of the situation. #whataboutweddings – at Cheltenham, England

Don’t even have an words. I can go to a festival with thousands of strangers. Most of who will be fumbling around drunk. But I can’t have a wedding with 50 members of my family?! What is going on!! There’s no logic to this. No science. #whataboutweddings @BorisJohnson sort it out
The CMA Guidelines are just that, guidelines. Not law. I get calls from suppliers who can’t meet rescheduled dates + are having these rules thrown at them. All the time, energy and effort spent on the planning to that point is forgotten. Compromise and be kind. @WAWofficialUK

I will leave this here. The events industry. Worth £84bn a year. All of it opening in May except weddings. Despite being the 3rd largest sector. Worth £5bn more than live sporting events. £8bn more than football. 👀🤷♀️

Am I the only one struggling with the restrictive numbers on weddings? All business postponed within an hour to later in the year, leaving me with 17 months no income and no support. Oh, and no dates for me to reschedule my own wedding! #whataboutweddings @WAWofficialUK
According to the gov doc published online a 15 person wedding can take place from 12the Apr “in premises that are permitted to open” - what does that mean? No marquees or getting married at home? @WAWofficialUK #whataboutweddings
