Gotta get the first move right 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
I’ve watched coaches (from behind a screen) say that you’re a clown if you use the terms: “hinge” or “sit into my hips” Meanwhile: 100 mph starter and World Series champion Tyler Glasnow:

THE PELVIS IS THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE. IT DOESN’T LISTEN TO WORDS. IT RESPONDS TO FORCE AND INERTIA. ❌❌Simply rotating the hips is a mechanical flaw❌❌ Clean IR of the back hip requires the ability to produce force both back towards 2B and laterally simultaneously.

In order to achieve proper rotation into foot strike, we need to do two things. Force a co contraction of all the muscles in the back hip, and put it under time pressure. Here are two staples to elicit rotation of the back hip

The body as a whole is a complex system. It cares little for verbal cues. By manipulating the environment and task with these drills, we force the body to self organize to reach the desired goal. Quit verbalizing movements and force the body into discovering them for itself.

Incredibly impressive series by the Trash Pandas to defeat a star-studded Milwaukee AA team. They did it with great pitching in the rotation (Bremner/Gordon/Snead), a lockdown back-end duo (Yovan/Minacci) and other quality leverage relievers (Cortez/Mahlstedt/Pinazzi) 1/3

Another nasty arsenal being showcased tonight in night class from 27’ @KeeganWilkerso4 Take note of the tight cluster of each individual pitch type. Nothing forced or “repeatable”. No verbal cues present. Pure attractor stability How you move on the mound creates the data

🚨THERE ARE TWO PHASES OF A PITCHING DELIVERY🚨 A LINEAR PHASE & ROTATIONAL PHASE WE PRODUCE FORCE AND MOMENTUM IN THE LINEAR PHASE WE RELEASE AND REDIRECT THE FORCE IN THE ROTATIONAL PHASE 🔑 STAY LINEAR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AND LEARN TO ROTATE WITH THE BEST OF THEM!🔑

1/5 🧵 The pitching delivery is too fast to make conscious changes in the delivery in the moment. But can proprioception or “feel” help within an athletes training regimen?

Applying an “anchor” or limiting degrees of freedom can be a quality tool to enhance an athletes proprioceptive feedback. BUT REMEMBER. While the constraint primes the proprioceptors, the permanent changes happen through implicit learning.

🚨THE BODY DOES NOT CARE FOR WORDS, NOR WILL IT LEARN FROM THEM.🚨 The goal isn’t to teach an athlete what to do. It’s to create an environment where their body learns how to create solutions. That’s where true movement ownership begins.

Logan Gilbert caps an 11-strikeout performance by proving that yes, pitchers are athletes. What a play.

Lowest hanging fruit for young athletes 👇👇👇👇
Matt Blake, the Yankees pitching coach, told my audience that the best pitchers are the best catch-play guys. , He named Kluber, Tanaka, Cole. Daily catch, done with intent, is where command lives. It is free, and almost nobody treats it as training.

No throw? No problem. You can always move better even without the ball in your hand 📈📈📈
