Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, this evening attended a working dinner hosted by H.E. Evgeny Zagaynov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to ASEAN. The discussion reviewed the outcomes of Dr. Kao's recent Working Visit to Russia in October of this year, which took place in conjunction with the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations and the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership this year. The two sides also exchanged views on follow-up to the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit held in Kazan, in June 2026, and the implementation of the ASEAN-Russia Comprehensive Plan of Action for 2026-2030, as well as on ways to further strengthen the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership.

🗓 On Oct 15, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn participated in a round-table discussion with scholars and experts, exchanging views on current developments in @ASEAN , ASEAN-Russia relations, and the future of the region in the context of ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future and its Strategic Plans.
As part of his visit to MGIMO University in Moscow, Secretary-General of @ASEAN met with master’s students enrolled in the programme “Political Economy of the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership”, engaging with them on ASEAN and the development of ASEAN-Russia cooperation.
The SG of @ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn toured the MGIMO campus and the ASEAN Centre at MGIMO University. He commended the Centre’s efforts to promote awareness of ASEAN and ASEAN-Russia relations, advance academic exchanges and policy dialogue, and strengthen people-to-people ties.

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 15 October 2026, held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM) of the Russian Federation, H.E. Anatoly Suprunovsky, in Moscow, on the sidelines of his working visit to Russia.
The two sides discussed progress in ASEAN–Russia cooperation on disaster management and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation in line with the Memorandum of Understanding between ASEAN and the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Field of Disaster Management and the Comprehensive Plan of Action to Implement the ASEAN–Russian Federation Strategic Partnership (2026–2030).
