Finally, we show differences in the usage of the subunits between queens and workers of bumblebees and honeybees:

Also, we show that evolutionarily different subunits (a9 & b2) that potentially are species-specific are used predominantly outside the central nervous system in a bee-specific gland (Nasonov gland)!

We also confirm that these receptors are present outside the central nervous system explaining how insecticides target different body parts.
