TOO SOFTCORE! I EXPECT TO PAY STAFF TO PROGRAM NOT TO HANDLE ERRORS OR PASS MESSAGES. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY ALL STAFF WILL SPEND AT LEAST 160 HOURS A WEEK DELETING ERROR-HANDLING CODE. AND ADDITIONALLY AT LEAST 165 HOURS TURNING DOWN SERVICES.
EVERY WAKING HOUR SHOULD BE SPENT WRITING PRODUCTION CODE! DONT WASTE TIME WITH “TESTING”! GET IT OUT THERE! HARDCORE!!!

"Fail fast" is a method not a goal, so the second word is the more important one. The goal is "succeed quickly". As humans, we often fail. This method allows us to fail while trying to succeed - @Teri_Kanefield rightly points out this cannot come instead of trying to succeed.
Replying to @Teri_Kanefield
I'm not persuaded that trying one dumb thing after another is a good method for figuring out what works.

What makes the "fail fast" method work is its other half: "try again". EM gave staff 2 weeks to complete a project, then fired half of them whose work they did not like. EM literally achieved "fail fast" (a method) as a goal. But this is a bad way to "succeed quickly" (the goal).
Sounds a lot like your (our) Graveler layer, @lakeFS !

The verified Twitter account of an official Russian organization, specifying exactly how to commit war crimes and calling Ukraine "Nazi". חשבון הטוויטר (מוודא ע"י טוויטר) של ארגון רוסי רשמי, מציין בפירוט איך לבצע פשעי מלחמה ומכנה את אוקראינה" נאצית. archive.ph/xuJ8E
💬#Azov militants deserve execution, but death not by firing squad but by hanging, because they’re not real soldiers. They deserve a humiliating death. A married couple from #Mariupol tell how they were shelled by 🇺🇦forces from #Azovstal. #StopNaziUkraine youtu.be/GRdcWfpqn3E
this (if you'll excuse my JS). New programming languages are hard to get right. New special-purpose programming languages are worse: I need to learn how to do everything again. Also outside the UI world: #airflow introduces limited control flow (compare #Spark or #ReactiveX), 1/
Only one of these is using Javascript syntax. I swear y’all are mad at React because you don’t like Javascript.

(+ mixes in #jinja2), most build tools are too powerful but also too special-case. Good counterexamples are #d3 (JavaScript library), #yacc back in its day (special-purpose, uses C for programming). Each has a limited scope and broad exact API to escape that scope.

Next week I'll be giving a talk at #reversim2021 about Graveler - a novel data structure @lakeFS uses to store commits. Why new structures are a great idea, why they're a horrible idea, why we invented one, and is it even new... See you! @reversim #reversim21 #RS21 @Treeverseio

מחשב חכם אמר פעם "the only winning move is not to play". אל תהיו לקוחות שלהם.
אוף, איזה רעיון! ארבע שנים אחרי .. הם עוד מתקשרים ולא משנה כמה אני אומרת שאבא שלי מת!
Lots of great sessions here! Also, I shall be giving a talk about *Graveler*, the novel (but also well-known) data structure we created to store committed data in @lakeFS. See you there!
RS21 ticket sales are on! 🔥 Check out the agenda: summit2021.reversim.com/agen… And register: rs21.forms-wizard.biz/?uuid=… See you!
It gets better! Same [RETURN]~^Z to _suspend_ ssh, getting back to the shell on the host. Shell job control ("fg" command) to get back into remote shell. Repeat tildes for nested ssh's. ^Z = hold down Control and press z.
[RETURN]~. # This sequence will close an OpenSSH session from the client side (same as killing the ssh process). Great for when the remote side has hung. [RETURN] = Press Return/Enter. For nested sessions you an press '~' N times in sequence to reach the Nth nested ssh client.
