CONFUSED ABOUT ATF’S MISSION? LET ME BE CLEAR. We go after straw purchasers who lie to put firearms in prohibited hands. We go after traffickers who supply violent criminals. And we go after criminals who misuse firearms. Law-abiding Americans exercising their Second Amendment rights are not the target. As ATF Director, that is my focus. My team is delivering: firearms trafficking charges referred for prosecution are up 33% year over year. We investigate. Prosecutors make charging decisions. Courts decide the cases. That’s how the system is supposed to work. I’m proud of the men and women of ATF. They are focused on the mission: holding criminals accountable and making American communities safer.

MORE RESULTS. FEWER AGENTS. SHARPER FOCUS. We’re referring more traffickers and straw purchasers for prosecution, and we’re doing it with fewer special agents. In FY26, per-agent referrals under 18 U.S.C. §§ 932 and 933 rose 155%. Behind that number are ATF special agents doing the hard work: building cases and going after the people who put firearms in the hands of criminals. I’m proud of these men and women. Their focus is clear, their work matters, and American communities are safer because of it.

Philadelphia Man Who Committed Three Armed Robberies in Two Weeks Sentenced to Nearly 20 Years in Prison Ibrahem Johnson pleaded guilty this May to three counts of interference in interstate commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act robbery), two counts of using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a felon. As detailed in court filings and statements, on the evening of May 28, 2025, Johnson robbed at gunpoint a Family Dollar store located on the 5700 block of Walnut Street, telling employees to “comply or get shot.” After taking cash from a register, Johnson fled the scene. On June 8, 2025, shortly after 9 p.m., he committed the armed robbery of a Rite-Aid Pharmacy on the 5600 block of Chestnut Street. Brandishing a gun at an employee, the defendant stated, “give me the money or I’ll shoot you.” After obtaining cash, he fled the area of the store. Three days later, on the morning of June 11, 2025, he robbed a Family Dollar store on the 5800 block of Woodland Avenue. Johnson again brandished a gun at a store employee and ordered the employee to “get back,” before fleeing with cash. Approximately half an hour later, a Philadelphia police officer recognized the defendant from a radio alert. After a brief foot chase, Johnson was arrested and a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun was recovered from a bag in his possession. @PhillyPolice @USAO_EDPA See News Release ⬇️
