Update: On 10/22/26 around 7:46 AM, officers responded to 1073 Piedmont Ave. regarding an unresponsive adult male. The male was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS services. There were no signs of trauma or foul play suspected. The Fulton County Medical Examiner will lead the investigation to determine the cause of death.

If you are smelling smoke or seeing a haze today, it's likely coming from a prescribed burn in the Abernathy/Macedonia area of Bartow County close to Lake Allatoona. The burn was conducted by the US Army Corp of Engineers and the Bartow County Fire and Emergency Services.

The victim in Monday’s tragic rollercoaster incident at Six Flags Over Georgia has been identified as Hassan Kariem, 42. Witnesses reported seeing Hassan ejected from his seat on the Goliath rollercoaster during the ride. According to onlookers, he struck parts of the ride multiple times before landing on the roof of a nearby haunted house attraction. Following the incident, the park was evacuated, and emergency crews rescued passengers stranded on Goliath’s 200-foot incline using evacuation stairways. APS said Hassan worked at Wesley International Academy, a K-8 charter school. Many students and parents at the school have described him as a cherished member of the APS community. Please keep Hassan and his loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time.
