'Muslim Wales - A History in 9 Places' is now officially available for purchase!
I really want these stories out there, for the names of Welsh Muslim pioneers to be known, and for Wales' Islamic history to be celebrated.
Thank you to everyone who made this happen!

What a brilliant day at @muslimlitfest ✨
From @Aliyah_UmmR on the power of du’a to Dr Abdul-Azim Ahmed exploring Muslim Wales, the conversations were thoughtful, moving and full of heart.

Lovely to see my reading recommendations go live with fantastic books by @_TharikHussain, @AbdulAzim and @dianadarke if you haven’t had a chance to pick up copies of Muslim Europe, Muslim Wales and Stealing from the Saracens yet, make sure you do! 🤓 📕
How would you react if someone told you Islam is undoubtedly as European a religion as Christianity?
From the arrival of the Sahaba in Cyprus to Muslim communities in Wales, Islamic influence on European architecture, and the centuries of Muslim rule across Iberia, Europe’s Islamic history is far richer than many of us realise.
In this article, Edward Rowe recommends three books that can help Muslims in Europe discover these forgotten connections and see the places around them through a different lens.

It's great to see that edgelords finally have representation in the Senedd.
🚨Plaid Cymru were left ‘horrified’ and ‘frightened’ by my contribution defending the British Empire and the importance of teaching history honestly. 😳
The British Empire was ultimately a force for good in the world, and judged by historical standards, rather than contemporary ones, it was a beacon of moral virtue. Our ancestors gave everything, their money and even their lives, abolishing slavery, only for that to be thrown back in their faces.
(THIS DOESN’T MEAN IT WAS MORALLY GOOD ALL THE TIME, ONLY WHEN JUDGED AS A WHOLE AND IN ITS HISTORICAL CONTEXT).
The British are a special people, with a glorious history. Something to be grateful for, something to be taught honestly. 🇬🇧

A new book, Muslim Wales by @AbdulAzim, highlights Lord Henry Stanley of Penrhos, diplomat to the Ottoman Empire, Muslim convert, and restorer of Anglesey churches, including Llanbadrig, which feature beautiful Islam-influenced stained glass windows. nation.cymru/culture/book-re…

This is a superbly entertaining and enjoyable book. It treats a space in Welsh history which is under-researched and has been treated as marginal; this brings Muslim Wales closer to the mainstream ✍️Desmond Clifford wp.me/p8Mk4U-1jZw

The ties between Wales and Islam can be found stretching back hundreds of years, a new study from Cardiff University finds wp.me/p8Mk4U-1iA4
I'm tired of hiding it, so I'm coming clean. I don't believe in quantitative methods. I view pollsters the same way I view court oracles who look at animal entrails and predict the King will die of consumption.

The row over the Trafalgar Square iftar has seen Jews and Christians coming to the defence of Muslims.
My thoughts on a fascinating and important trend:-

You know the loss of character counts is as integral to Twitter's decline as Elon Musk. Before, the racism had to boiled down to its very essence before posting, now I'm seeing lazy scatter gun racism, no class.

People may not be aware but Nick Timothy has form.
These are the discriminatory policies about Muslims, he advocated only a couple of years ago in The Telegraph

Nick Timothy is a disgrace.
If @KemiBadenoch was remotely serious about standing up for British values, she would sack him today. 👇
Ed Husain's 'Among the Mosques' is back in discussion. My favourite part of the book is when he admits to watching a young Muslim couple kiss in a car, only for them to stop when they see him leering at them. He takes this as a sign of extreme Muslim conservatism.
Islamism is a far-right ideology, not a faith.
Ed Husain’s conclusions are clear: map it, fund-blockade it, confront it and enforce the law.
Britain must stop appeasing extremists.
@Ed_Husain book Among the Mosques is a must read.
NB The problem is Islamists not moderate Muslims.
There's no point taking this commentary seriously or responding to it earnestly. Nick barely believes what he is saying himself, it's nothing more than a politics of emotion and vitriol. All performance, no substance.
Too many are too polite to say this.
But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination.
The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination.
Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions.
And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals.
I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook.
Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation.
Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration.
It was an act of domination and therefore division.
It shouldn’t happen again.
There is a relationship between the decline of unregulated noticeboards and the decline of civil society.
Bring back the massive, overpopulated, messy noticeboard.
