Heat wave builds next week underneath the upper high across the Tennessee Valley. ALWAYS watch the belly of the upper high for tropical development. Splitting trough in the SW Atlantic provides the opportunity for homegrown development near Florida.

Severe Weather Outbreak Wed-Wed pm for Midwest. 989 mb low pulling Gulf moisture northward with a strengthening LLJ over 70 kts. WIDESPREAD WIND DAMAGE, tornadoes as well.Lack of warmth from Chicago to lower MI maybe a saving grace for that area, but strong dynamics may overcome

Intense LLJ this evening. 00Z on left, 06z on right. Regardless of t-storms there will be damaging wind gusts, especially Jersey shore to eastern New England.

A nasty set-up for severe wx in the midwest Tue. Highs will be typical of mid-May with dewpts in the lower 60s. Two areas of an increasing LLJ. One in the evening & one overnight. Large hail, damaging wind and tornadoes (1-2 dozen is my thought) under the cover of darkness.

(2) The 500 mb Sun shown below. GFS on left, EURO on right. The Euro has a much weaker wave Mon which attackes the cold with smaller snow amounts and then a bigger system Tue with snow and ice across New England. This will be my focus moving forward
