Why does the government want to remove discipline from the ATA? Simply put, it is a politically motivated attack on the Association and an attempt to weaken the profession.

Last month, minister LaGrange announced a plan to strip the ATA of its professional regulatory functions related to discipline, effectively changing the ATA to a trade union.
Why scrap a system that has worked well for over 100 years?

If you are advocating for schools to reopen during omicron, please remember there is a good chance someone like this is sitting next to your kid, maybe 2 feet away. Don’t believe me? Come to my school watch me remind teens 100s of times a day “mask over your nose!”

Students, teachers, staff, and admin are beyond stressed and exhausted. Patience, Love and Grace are so important right now.
“Deeper learning = knowledge transfer”. Use this as a gentle reminder, school and learning has changed over the past couple years. Just as teachers adjust, so do our students.

Principals want teachers to be sensitive to the “WHOLE child.”
Well principals need to be sensitive to the “WHOLE teacher.”
Maslow’s theory was not just about kids; it applied to ALL humans.
Thoughts on this quote from ascd educational leadership magazine? I had to read it a couple of times and am still unsure about it. #ascd #Education #pandemicteaching

Happy June everyone! This video is a little medicine after a tough year. Gives me optimism, joy and goosebumps. Oh man, being a teacher/learner is awesome! thank you @Mackimakes @VGray65 @RockyViewStudio youtu.be/ofw68WqQHpA
Spring on the reserves can be a doozy. This is a road outside my clinic, it is not paved and this is a federal (Health Canada) building. The mud tracks inside and is hard on the building. Peoples roads become impassible and is hard to deliver water. This is the reality.

This weekend’s Covid case counts, hospitalization/ICU numbers and severe outcomes are deeply troubling. Even more worrisome is the exponential rate of growth. We need bold action from the Government of Alberta now, in addition to all the things that we need to do in our families.

As a principal, I’m supposed to be an “instructional leader.” But I told our teachers this week, that I don’t know how to do that in the middle of a pandemic.
Right now is not the best time to talk about programs, plans, data points, and “best practices.” It is time to support.

PEACE is human dignity.
PEACE is equal rights for all.
PEACE is respect for cultural diversity.
To respect, we need to understand. To understand, we need to exchange.

#abed #MyClassSizeIs #TweetForWhatMatters French Immersion is taking a hit in our division and being left with gapping holes that are being patched up as best as they can by administration. It’s not acceptable. #ILovePublicEducation
