Polymarket deleted their tweet because they wanted to stop the backlash they were getting for it. I won’t let them. Prediction markets, and polymarket specifically are disgusting sites who only exist because enough people lose money on them that it keeps them running. The normalization of this website, especially within the League of Legends community, is one of the most alarming things that has happened in recent years. League creators are getting paid hundreds, if not thousands per quote tweet, as well as 5 figure monthly salaries to promote them on stream and it’s at a point now where this is just accepted. It shouldn’t be. Prediction markets, gambling websites, and sports betting sites are willing to shill tens of thousands of dollars to content creators because they know the viewers of said creator will lose infinitely more than they pay for the sponsor. How can this be okay? Money, especially in this economy, is hard to come by. But throwing your viewers and the people who support you under the bus because you want to make a few thousand extra every month should inspire criticism, not acceptance.
